List of Kevin May's Reviews
Surgery went smoothly -quick & painless. Post-op, Dr. May was out of ofc. Saw Dr. Litoff instead. Shared concerns about not reading clearly. I asked if it will resolve itself once fully healed. He said no due to artificial lens. I was shocked and felt cheated. Told him Dr. May didn't tell me about this. He shook his head looking disappointed. To my understanding of his explanation, cataract surgery patients are typically older people whose vision is already significantly impaired, so losing near vision was not a topic of concern or conversation at consultation w/ Dr. May. But Dr. Litoff reassured me that he will talk to Dr. May. The objective of the "talk" was not specified, but my guess is that, based on the level of concern he showed me & being a fellow physician of Dr. May and Icon Eye Care's Chief Medical Officer, perhaps Dr. Litoff was meaning to reassure me that Dr. May's mistake will be discussed and not get swept under the rug. I feel that i was treated unethically and carelessly when Dr. May performed my surgery. Dr. Litoff advised me to just wait to decide if i want to do next surgery. The next visit w/ Dr. May, I said I said Im not getting cataract surgery on left eye. He seemed upset, said things would be so much easier if I would just get the cataract surgery. I said I do not want to lose near vision in my other eye, too and I just want eyeglasses. He did a quick evaluation to give me a prescription. I got eyeglasses at an eyewear store w/ his prescription but eyeglasses came out so imbalanced. I saw new eye doctor to get my eyes reevaluated. She was very thorough. She had me look through significantly more lenses than Dr. May did. She reviewed my records and prescription from May. Turns out the prescription Dr. May wrote was definitely incorrect. Same w/ contacts. Its just hard for me to believe that an eye surgeon, w/ the level of expertise and experience like Dr. May's, plus our last interaction, can just coincidentally provide a wrong prescription it's not even close to what it shouldve been. I really hope he didn't do it in retaliation or to make me believe that my vision is in a much worse condition than it really is. That would be so wrong... Anyway, there's no going back. I've filed a complaint to the medical board as well as the American Academy of Opthalmology.

I called Dr May's office for over 2 weeks all I got were technicians" who did not know me or knew my case. He treated me since 2005 for diabetes, many surgeries for glaucoma, and other serious problems. As a patient, I have the right to talk to my doctor, but someone in the office told me thbutsomekne in the office said that was not true. They made up their own rules as they went along with their own rules. I asked if he was there and they said yes, but he never spoke to me in over 2 weeks. I had a very bad case of COVID with serious eye problems, my PCP said to call Dr May. I was too I'll to drive and I am taking care of a disabled American veterans who was in hospice and terminal, with only weeks to live. Dr May knew of his serious cancer and the fact he was in hospice. I remarked in earlier visits, that his staff was very rude. He said he joined that group to help him with billing. Not true, they were not caring and did not treat me an elderly women with respect his business will suffer when other patients will have no contact with him, such As me I received a letter 10days later in the mail, they cut me off, and left me with no refills on eye medicine. I scrambled to find a new doctor and they are good, and show me the resoectI am entitled to Also. His telephone system sucks, because staff does not call you back for a few days, then they say to you verblt that all that is your fault. I have fecorded conversations from their staff, which I will keep, I case of legal pursuit. Kathleen Pitiak, faithful patient of over 17years. Disgrace to this doctor!! responded
My husband and I had back-to-back appointments scheduled with Dr May and his Team. We encountered a number of positive strokes that added up to an overall 5-star experience. First we got guidance when our GPS was somewhat off-track. We were promptly greeted and given the customary paperwork to handle. Marissa was our expert physician assistant. She did stellar work, processing each of us professionally, orderly and efficiently through the relevant exam and prep each of us required. She made the entire experience pleasant and engaging. Dr May was personable, listened intently to our concerns. He gave us valuable insight, appropriate referrals, and found routes to help us save money while addressing our needs. We finished up with Amy who set appointments with other medical resources and completed the office visit. Result: we have an ophthalmologist with a capable staff we can rely on.... thank you!
Went to him for a check up. He said he was going to do laser treatment, it would make my vision clearer. He clearly did something wrong. Immediately after the treatment my vision was damaged. It was like there was a white cloud floating across my eye blocking my vision. The eye hurts all the time. It was absolutely a mistake that he made. Of course he would not admit or take responsibility. Is this the kind of person/doctor you want treating you? If you do use him remember I warned you. Do you really want to take the chance he will blind you.
As much as I like Dr May, I will never go back there again. I received a bill for $47. I went to their office and asked what it was for, since my insurance covers my visits. They informed me, it’s for Dr May “writing the prescription that I needed”! REALLY!? He charges $47 to write a prescription????? I have never been charged by any Dr in my 67 years a fee to write a prescription when needed by any Dr! Therefore I will never go back to him, nor will any of my friends go back to him, who see him either. I am still in shock over this.
Dr May is great but the office staff isn't. The past 2 years I had appointment (each which I made a year in advance) 2020 appointment I was told when I arrived that Dr May was not in and I had to see another Dr. This year I got a call around 10 am the Friday before my 9 am Monday appointment that Dr May now does surgery on Monday's and I would need to reschedule. I aske why I wasn't notified earlier. Their response was "he just started doing surgery on Monday's". Apparently he started in Jan. and even though my appointment was mid Feb. they couldn't be bothered to let me know earlier. If I had called to cancel the time of day they did I would have had to pay. Very very upset. I did reschedule but then canceled and I am going to go see another Dr. I did not feel valued as a patient after being basically dismissed the last 2 appointments.
Dr. May has done an excellent work for my wife and I. He has carefully examined us and kept us informed of possible eye problems. He performed cataract operations on both of us.
I had a great experience with Dr. May. He was friendly, professional and went the extra mile to figure out my problem. His front office staff is very friendly and personable was well. I would recommend him to anyone and will be bringing my family to him.
Dr May did not address my concerns and the front desk staff was unfriendly. Also the perception Dr May suggested was incorrect.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
