This place is a joke. I was referred by my doctor. Called to schedule an appointment and they informed me on Monday that their systems are down and I would have to call back. Call back Tuesday and they tell me to call my doctor and have them resend it so I do, they advise me to call the next day. Call Thursday and they don't have the referral but my doctor's office is closed so they give me a fax number that goes right to the referral coordinator. Today is Friday so I call and have them fax it, call TUCC, they got the fax but inform me that it's invalid because the doctor's name on my insurance card isn't the referring doctor. Well yeah, it's a residency program and the doctor on the card is one of the chief residents. It has never been an issue for having claims paid for the 6 years I have had them as my PCP but they wouldn't do it and it's not possible to get my doctor's name on the card as she's a student in her residency program! I called my doctor's office and got referred elsewhere. Funny how they had no issue with the residency explanation when they said they couldn't find my doctor in the system and I explained and gave them the name. It's never a good sign when the front line doesn't have it together.
Terrible service. Made my medical issues even worse in a single visit but denied any responsibility and offered no additional help. Felt like they just legally wanted to get rid of me. Have not heard any follow up in over a year. Same issue they caused still exists. Last I heard, Doctors exist to help patients. Not make their situations worse and kick them aside. 😥 UPDATE: Updated Review: Terrible service. Made my medical issues even worse in a single visit I was told to wait and give it time. No contact from anybody so I had to push for further service. Felt ignored and put a bad review on another site and here. Thereafter, I was actually reached out to by a staff leader. See below! She was nice but unable to help me in any way! Shame on you TUCC for not using your hearts to make decisions. After 2+ years, the specialist is still unable to admit her mistakes. The staff failed to take any responsibility. On top of all this, the staff denied to offer me any additional help. Nor did they ever contact me after the damaging visit. It was ALL up to me. I am 50 years old and this is my only negative review that I ever have posted online. I never have witnessed a group of medical staff like this that don't actually care for their patients Especially, when all they did is make my issue much worse. Thank you for thinking about it for 5 minutes while I think about this every day!:
I started expierencing pain on my lower left side at the end of 2021 and shortly after visiting my doctor and getting a scan done I landed in the hands of the Urology Center of Colorado - after a few more exams it was clear I would need to have surgery. Dr. Dagenais took on my case and immediately put my mind at ease about everything. He and his entire team took wonderful care of me and I am happy to report I still have both of my kidneys and they work great! Thank you Dr. Dagenais and TUCC for literally saving my kidney and life!
The only reason for >1 star is that I really like my doctor (Dagenais). He’s been great and super helpful. However I’ve found the rest of the staff to be absolutely terrible. I had a surgery and my follow up was scheduled with a different doctor who had no context on my situation. I just went in for a regular check in and found out when I got there that my appointment was with the wrong doctor and mine wasn’t in. They tried to blame me for the mistake but I scheduled in person with them after seeing my usual doctor. I’ve also tried to change my pharmacy no less than 5 times and they still haven’t gotten that right. I could list many other things but that should paint the picture. Sadly these mistakes have gotten to a point where I’ll likely switch urology practices moving forward.
Unas de las peores experiencias que he tenido en este lugar no lo recomiendo las recepcionistas groseras y antipáticas aún después de una semana sigo en espera de su llamada para que me den una nueva cita!!
I have been a patient of Dr. May for eleven years. Over this time I have experienced friendly, courteous and truly concerned care from Dr. May and the staff at TUCC. The only problem I have with the facility, and the reason for the four star rating, is the snail’s pace of the lab. Every time I arrive for a blood draw, there is a minimum twenty minute wait. That is if there are no other patients waiting. My most recent visit was three days ago with two patients ahead of me. My wait was forty minutes. If the staff is too busy in the back, preparing samples or whatever and find it difficult to deal with all the patients, they need to add more help to handle the workload.
Great Dr and easy visit, but their billing process is a nightmare! Charged for the service the day of, before it was submitted to Insurance (HDHP). Was informed the payment was just a deposit, but it has not been refunded even after paying in full with HSA.
Ok so the actual care was typical. It’s the nickeling and diming. Still receive a bill 6 months after. Even though I already paid a balance off???? They also didn’t really help. Just a waste of time and money. Find a smaller more personal type doctor setting.
TUCC, Dr. Ben Carpenter & Dr. Mark Jones came to my rescue (June 2022) after an extended period of frustration while I was attempting to schedule urgent urology appointments through the UCHealth system. TUCC team members handled every call with professionalism and patience. My meetings with both doctors provided immediate attention to my issues and follow-up procedures were scheduled in a very timely fashion. The TUCC system allows for each procedure to be conducted in private medical suites, by trained nurses and doctors. The relaxing environment offered to patients at the Denver facility provides a huge advantage over "big university" type medical facilities. From the time I entered the Urology Center of Colorado I knew that I was in the right place. Everyone on the team was kind, caring and sensitive to my well being. Only 8 days ago I had a robotic prostatectomy - the 2.5 hour surgery went beautifully under the remarkable focus & skill of Dr. Mark Jones. The Swedish Medical Center robotic surgery team is incredibly talented - from the pre-op nursing group to the USAP anesthesiologist (Mark Fiegel), the Da Vinci robotic surgical group and finally the post-op team. I was relaxed and smiling as they wheeled me in and out of the unit. The overnight hospital stay was exactly as planned, impressive on all counts (nurses , assistants, doctors, support personnel). At home, I managed the minor pain with Tylenol and Aleve for only 4 days, then I was pain free. The follow-up post-op appointment with the PA, Caitlin Ellis (she is an absolute delight) was very helpful. As you can tell, I sincerely believe the care, concern, talent, attitude and professionalism exhibited throughout the TUCC family is stunningly impressive. They are doing their medical business the right way. If you need urology help, CALL THEM TODAY!
I'm so impressed with how this place is run. We were lucky enough to get an appt quickly. Came in 15 min early went right to get an ultrasound, then over to the doctor's area. Went right in, waited 5 minutes max, saw the doctor and they couldn't have been more impressive. Loved everything about this place.
I do not usually go out of my way to leave people bad reviews but I would like to personally say how rude I think Nicole I’m the Surgery center is. From the first phone call, all the way until I had my procedure done. The way she speaks to people on the phone is a poor representation of herself and the business she represents.
Very disappointed in my experience here. Twice, I've called and requested call backs and they never called me. Back in 2021, my hemacrotit levels came back high, they never called to tell me nor did they ever go over the results of my bloodwork with me. I recently had the same result after having blood drawn. It was only because I called and asked about these levels being high they actually did call back. They are mediocre at best at getting back to you after you leave a message. And after a year of having my prostate vaporized, I'm running into the same problems but worse as far as getting up during nighttime to go to the bathroom. I mentioned it last appointment and wasn't really given much direction on how to deal with it. The place feels way more like a business than people who actually care and that's deeply disappointing.
Awful!!! The times I had an appointment the times have been screwed up multiple times. One occasion, the appt was at 1pm. Keeping in mind you get texts messages remind you of the time. When I arrived the system had me down for 1:30pm. The second I had to get a procedure done and after 2 months and multiple calls they finally scheduled me in. They kept blaming that it was the insurance, doctor's schedule, the operations scheduling. Third occasion, I had an appt at 9am time arrived the nurse came to tell the receptionist that the doctor forgot he worked at the office today. The receptionist than told me he was at the hospital and is running late. Which of course that was a lie, be honest with patient that he forgot. While waiting for an late, multiple patients that arrived were given the wrong date or time for their appt. Obviously, the system they have isn't the greatest and they seem to not care. I have asked multiple times to speaks with the manager addressing the concerns and no call back.. The only positive note are the doctors themselves are caring and compassionate but the facility itself awful. Avoid if all possible! Update: arrived for my appt today on august 4th and they stated it was canceled when I confirm and received text messages. Once again driving to only find out it was canceled.
Their billing practices are sneaky and they do not advise you of all the charges you are going to incur beforehand. In my case, I was told of 2 charges, one for $1200 alongside my $40 copay, both of which I paid. Then, a month later, I received another bill for $77+. I was never made aware of this fee until I got a bill. I would not recommend going to this place unless you want to get hit with unexpected fees and charges.
I regret my own procrastination by not coming to TUCC sooner for a second opinion. After meeting with Dr. James Thomasch and a quick dialogistic procedure, I learned (like so many men my age) I had been living with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Now several weeks after a simple surgical procedure, my life has been forever changed for the better. So, gentleman, unlike me - stop waiting and living with urination pain and problems. Dr, Thomasch immediately understood my symptoms and condition, recommend corrective action and posed the skills to correct it. My heartfelt appreciation to TUCC, their staff, Dr, Thomasch and is amazing assistance Leona. Thank you, Brent N
Please, if you suffer from a painful bladder or interstitial cystitis please go here! Their kindness and compassion have given me hope and relief. I have seen several other urologists elsewhere and been met with dismissal and painful procedure. Here at TUCC the "same procedure" I have preformed on me that caused me horrific pain elsewhere, caused nothing but slight discmfort and then immidate relief. They are life savers and deserve all my praise and gratitude.
I was referred by a friend for a vasectomy. The first initial call in was very hard to get through with the receptionist, almost like she was new at her job. She collected all of my information including my insurance info and scheduled my appointment. I realized after reading through paperwork that was emailed to me that I wanted medication to calm my nerves before the procedure. I called back in right away and spoke to another receptionist that said they would put a note to have a nurse call me back. 3 business days went by without a call back so I called in again. The same receptionist I spoke with the first time answered and told me she did not see a note in the system and that she would make sure a nurse would reach out. Received a call the next day and the nurse said they would give me something for my nerves before the procedure as long as I showed up 30-45 mins before hand. Friday evening at 4:10pm I received a call from a nurse and she apologized because they had just realized there would be no registered nurse on staff to administer the medication so they could cancel my appointment and do another day or she could answer any questions to help try to calm my nerves before hand. I decide to just move forward with the procedure and see them at 7:45am the next day. After getting family to watch our kids, my wife and I headed to the urology center. When we arrived I was asked to provide my insurance card and I.D., she had then explained that my insurance, Kaiser, is not approved and that the entire procedure would be out of pocket. She asked if the billing department had called me, I told her no. This was extremely frustrating as you could imagine, why couldn’t someone of called and told me this before I came in for the appointment? Why wasn’t the receptionist trained to tell me that right when I told her I had Kaiser. What made it even more frustrating was that the receptionist that took my insurance card had said there is only one insurance plan through Kaiser that covers vasectomies through them. WHY WOULD YOU NOT SAY THIS FROM THE BEGINNING??!!?? So frustrated and embarrassed. This should not be the experience anyone should have with this procedure. I really hope a manager sees this and stops this from happening in the future.
Had a vasectomy with dr.philpot. I was told the pain is a 10/10 from a friend in another state. Well his doctor had to be bad, because I was in and out in about an hour total. Pain: 1/10. A BREEZE. Thanks Dr. philpot!
Drs. Ragan, Pugh, Carpenter and Montoya all seemed very competent, professional, honest, and straightforward. They do listen to one's concerns and explain well. I would not have any hesitation with any of them treating me. However, I was not particularly pleased with TUCC's communication system: 1) I would try to send a message on the patient portal. If you take too long composing the message and try to send, it aborts and you lose your entire message. Extremely frustrating! 2) Callbacks are hit and miss. Multiple times I theoretically left messages with zero response, or a very delayed response. Also, if a doctor is on vacation, how about a vacation response to a portal message instead of a black hole? There are too many levels of indirection in the phone system. I know it takes more people resource, but why can't I call a doctors staff directly? TUCC is not alone in this regard. 3) I DID have a representative from Dr. Ragan's office call a couple times to check up on my progress in selecting a course of treatment and physician at TUCC and to help track down information I needed. That was very welcome. Need more of that. Dr. Ragan coordinated my initial tests and diagnosis, along with explaining the results. He was very good. However, prostate cancer treatments are done by others at TUCC. So, I was not sure of his role in my continued search for a treatment and physician. Should everything have gone through his office? But that would add more indirection and delay... 4) After Dr. Ragan decided I needed a biopsy, it was 1.5 months before I could get that done at TUCC. That seemed to me to be a surprisingly long wait for an important procedure. From my sample, the doctors here seem to be first class. If TUCC could improve it's communication system, the whole operation would be amazing. All the people I interacted with at TUCC seemed personable and caring, no issue there.
Everybody I have had any dealings with over the last 18 months of being a patient has been professional, caring and a pleasure to work with, from the check in desk to the MA's and Doctors. I highly recommend TUCC
