Dr Modanlou 3 dudes doc quite literally saved my life! After a visit to my PA who instructed me to go directly to the ER with what turned out to be acute appendicitis. MRI confirmed my appendix had ruptured. I spent the next 5 days at Swedish Medical Center under Dr. Modanlous care. Four weeks ago I had a robotic appendectomy again under Dr. Modanlous care. Today I have 3 small incision sites that will most likely be undetectable in a couple of months, just as Dr Modanlou said in my preop appointment. My thanks again to you Dr Modanlou aka 3 dudes doc for saving my life!
Dr Modanlou thank you for saving my life! If you are in search of an amazing surgeon your search is over with Dr Modanlou. On target diagnosis, amazing course of care, surgery, pre/post op!
I had a tumor in my appendix that had the potential to be malignant. Dr. Modanlou put me at ease in a time of great fear with being credible, competant and professional about his plan to perform an appendectomy with a necessary backup surgery plan should the pathology come back positive. What really struck me was Dr. Modanlous humanity and compassion after many years of a being a surgeon. He takes great pride in providing the utmost care to his patients by first taking care of himself mentally, physically and spiritually. By investing in his own mental, physical and emotional well being, he becomes the best possible doctor and surgeon he can be for all his patients. I certainly came to the hospital on the day of my surgery knowing the person I put my life in his hands was going to be on the top of his game. I cant thank Dr. Modanlou enough for making what could of been a miserable experience into one I count my blessings every day for. I highly recommend Dr Modanlou and will always be forever grateful to him.
Dr. Modanlou and the staff at Swedish Hospital completed my hernia surgery as easy and pleasant as possible. The guidance provided pre surgery as well as the consideration during and following the procedure, gave a comforting sense of being surrounded by the most competent health care professionals. From the onset, Dr. Modanlou' s description of the proposed surgery was thorough from start to finish. The doctor visited me before surgery to check in on my status and if I had any concerns. The postsurgery information was also very beneficial and provided explanations as to what to expect and the steps towards a complete recovery. I highly recommend the team at Swedish Hospital for your surgery needs, from Dr. Modanlou, to Judy and Liam the anesthesiologists and of course the wonderful nurses that looked after me as well. A success all around!
Dr. Modanlou saved my life. He is an incredible person and physician and surgeon. His is brilliant and yet humble and compassionate. He performed a 10 and half hour robotics surgery on me called The whipple to get a mass from my pancreas. He listened, he cared, he was specific and prepared me for every part of the surgery process I experienced. I strongly recommend this incredible doctor/surgeon. Shawn Feaster Johnson
I recently had my gallbladder removed by Dr. Modanlou. He is very thorough with his information and actually seems like he cares about his patients. He remembered me throughout all my appointments up until after my surgery for my checkup. I felt very well taken care of! :) Definitely recommend.
Overall my experience with Dr Modanlou and his staff was extremely favorable. My initial appointment to discuss gall bladder surgery was informative and comforting. Dr Modanlou explained in detail the various steps of the surgery ahead of time which was extremely reassuring. My recovery time after surgery went extremely well which I attributed to his pain management approach. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen was all I needed to relieve the pain. I was extremely grateful to have an expert physician in my network and would highly recommend him to any prospective patients.
Dr. Modanlou, His skill at robotics saved me a week in the hospital and several weeks of recovery. I was discharged the next day. Very professional and caring for his patients. John K. Littleton co.
Had hernia surgery with another doctor 1 1/2 years ago. Had to have another one and the experience with Dr. Modanlou was light years better. His up-to-date technique had less sideeffects and recovery time. Definitely recommend.

The night before, I had a terrible pain in my abdomen. Then that morning, I was rushed to Rose Hospital and shortly after, was in the operating room getting my appendix removed. The worst part was that I was in the hospital for an emergency surgery during the COVID epidemic. And I was so fortunate to have Dr. Kian Modanlou running my surgery. Among other things, his team kept my wife completely informed since she was unable to wait for me in the hospital. Before the anesthesiologist put me under, Dr. Modanlou sat with me, explained the procedure, and really took his time to listen to my concerns. My follow up with him two weeks after was no exception. I have been extremely comfortable throughout the process. And my recovery has been seamless.

My surgery was very complicated, Dr. Modanlou had to remove part of my liver, gallbladder, part of my colon and part of my small intestine to remove a fairly large Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). I believe the surgery was more complicated than originally thought, I was fortunate to be in the care of Dr. Modanlou, he realized how complicated it would be but decided to proceed anyway. He spent 5 hours to carefully remove the tumor intact and making sure he had enough margin. My office visits were very informative, he explained the procedure and what I should expect after the surgery in easy to understand terms and welcomed my questions. In all my discussions with Dr. Modanlou, I never felt rushed or hesitant to ask any questions, he treated me kindness and made sure I knew I was an equal partner in my care. I have had nothing but expert care since my diagnosis and I appreciate Dr. Modanlou and his experienced, compassionate care to remove the tumor and prolong my life.
My surgery was very complicated, Dr. Kian Modanlou had to remove part of my liver, gallbladder, part of my colon and two sections of my small intestine to remove a fairly large (7 cm) Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). I believe the surgery was more complicated than originally thought, I was fortunate to be in the care of Dr. Modanlou, he realized how complicated it would be but decided to proceed anyway. He spent 5 hours to carefully remove the tumor intact and making sure he had enough margin. I also believe his decision to proceed saved me from many months of chemotherapy prior to attempting the surgery again. My preoperation visits were very informative. Dr. Modanlou explained the procedure and what I should expect after the surgery in easy to understand terms and welcomed questions that helped me understand the entire process. He also explained that there was a multidiscipline board that met and reviewed these types of cases to ensure the course of action was the best one and to make sure all possibilities were considered. The board met on my case and wanted to first rule out colon cancer… which they did, but that gave me the confidence to know that this surgery was the correct course of action based on a team of doctors that considered all options. After the surgery, while in the hospital, he came to see my each day and discuss how I was recovering… once again he was informative and answered all my question. In all my discussions with Dr. Modanlou, I never felt rushed or hesitant to ask any questions, he treated me kindness and made sure I knew I was an equal partner in my care. Dr. Modanlou is an outstanding Surgeon. I had a hernia repair using Robotic surgery. I feel great! He was professional, personal and very detailed before and after my surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Modanlou.
Great experience with my recent surgery, from initial visits through surgery to a final followup. Keeps you informed on every step of the process and the office staff is great to work with too. Thanks!

Albeit, my femorial hernia repair was fairly straight forward, Dr Modanlou took the time to explain the procedure, the risk of NOT doing the procedure, and somewhat what to expect after. I like the fact that he is using alternate forms of pain relief methods that worked very well for me (instead of relying on opioides). My ONLY suggestion for moving forward is a little bit more information on what to expect AFTER the procedure. I didnt know what questions to even ask so something like a handout or reference of what to expect would be helpful when/if patience get overwhelmed by the information given them and miss it.
My complex 3 hour inguinal hernia repair surgery was effective and pain free. I didnt even need an ibuprofen after I left the operating room at Sky Ridge. Dr. Modanlou and the team are terrific.
