List of James Pasternack's Reviews
I have an eye exam every 2 years. After a thorough exam Dr. Pasternak followed up on my having felt pressure in one of my eyelids. After the tests he quickly explained that I had narrow angle glaucoma and said I needed surgery. He failed to explain how he came to this recommendation. When I asked if the surgery had any any risks, he said not doing the surgery was the risk! I subsequently have set up a consult with another ophthalmologist so i can better understand what is my condition and whether laser surgery is necessary!
Thank you for being an ethical eye surgeon...who won't "buy in" to unnecessary practices.
The staff was rude and very unfriendly. It is very disappointing that I paid for an assistant and only saw the doctor for 5 quick minutes unacceptable and I will certainly look for another ophthalmologist
Not experienced ,poor diagnosis.long time waiting
I have gone to Dr P for many years. He is courteous and friendly. His male assistant however is a reason I would switch doctors. His assistant was rude and not very professional when I expressed my discontent with a prior visit (due to wait time and pharmaceutical options), and the assistant was extremely rude when I did not follow the rules from the prior visit due to concerns regarding the medication and wanting a more natural choice of options. I still can't believe that he stated that "in his 17 years of doing this work, that he doesn't know anything about what to do (he was being sarcastic). I was furious. My health is important to me, as is my eye sight. When I express a concern about taking a drug of some sort, and wanting a more natural option, he should not make me feel that I am completely wrong at wanting that option. His reactions were awful, and his tone of voice was awful. If I do decide to go back to Dr Pasternack, I will be sure to ask that his male assistant stay away from me.
Dr. P has taken care of my eyes for many years. However, he has a staff member that has quite an attitude if you don't follow the rules. This assistant does not take into account the events in the patient's life that may affect their health. This male assistant is so rude, I am thinking about leaving my long time opthalmologist! The assistant makes my blood pressure boil! The patient's time is JUST as important as the staff, but it was out of line for this man to compare his time to mine.
great doctor very good on his profession he explained the procedure before perform the cataract operations he explained the new lense that will be implant and the choice for distance and close. very professional i have recommend him for any of my family and friends.
patient, listens to patient concerns and answers them fully, no rushed or hurried visits ever.
Really like dr. Pasternak. He's experienced and thorough. He listens and cares - even for something simple (which can be the harder time to listen and care). Highly recommended.
my only negative would be the wait time. Dr. Pasternak was pleasant and calm and explained everything to me.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
