List of Dr. David Young's Reviews
My daughter had an appointment with Dr. Young. After waiting several weeks to see him, we were rushed in and out of Dr. Young's office on the day of her exam. He did a mechanical check of her eyes, but did not take the time to listen to what she was saying or asking. She is a teenager and quite capable of expressing herself - however, her concerns went unaddressed. Maybe he is good with younger children, but not teens.
Caring, Informative, compassionate. Great prompt clinical skills and experience. I had an excellent experience in an emergency situation with Dr. Young. I would recommend him to any one.
We had a fantastic experience with Dr. Young. He was so fun and really engaged with my son during his appointments. He accurately diagnosed my son's eye condition and gave us a game plan to help heal my son's condition. He has gone from having 20/100 vision in one of his eyes up to 20/50, which is a dramatic improvement. We highly recommend Dr. Young!!
Staff are very friendly and nice. You can really feel the aloha spirit. Thief office is clean. With Dr Young he's very helpful for my sons pre-op. He explained everything that we needed to know. Does and don't
Raising my daughter with disability including being nonverbal and tube feed dependent, has always keep me on my tiptoe. With God's grace, a referral to Dr David Young for what seem to be chronic red eye led to the uncovering of a major concern - retinal detachment. Dr Young quickly arranged OR in-depth exam with calling in Dr Byron Wong, retinal specialist, for a consult. The diagnosis was confirmed. He was so patient in explaining the problem, potential effect when not treated in addition to types of surgical intervention. His office visits have always been delightful and positive. He is a natural when it comes to interacting with little ones, and with an older nonverbal child. As soon as the lights off in the exam room, we quickly find ourselves lifted up to the calming starry night sky! His staffs are wonderful and helpful!!!
Awesome pediatric ophthalmologist!!! He is very good with children and the exam room is perfect for my 3 year old. There are disney toys on the room that he uses and there are glow in the dark stars on the ceiling which is perfect when he turns off the lights. The only complaint that I have is that the wait can get a bit long. And with a toddler...waiting for just 15 minutes can feel like hours.
I absolutely loved this doctor! My daughter was referred to get her eyes checked to her port wine stain birthmark near one of her eyes. So at less than 2 months old I made an appointment with Dr Young officeThe initial call was amazing, the receptionist quickly got me an appointment was very through and extremely courteous!! That true aloha spirit! Office was easy to find at Kapiolani Medical Center physicians building (hospital side, old side not that ew fancy side) elevators right next to the pharmacy and coffee shop.Parking is not free here, you can do self park or valet, I always opt for valet cus the prices aren't that much different than self park, so why bother when you have a baby to carry lol Waiting area was very large to accommodate families, had a beautiful seating area, toys and a tv playing Disney movies to keep the kids occupiedOur nurse was awesome extremely careful and very patient!!Dr Young was truly amazing, my baby had to have her eyes dilated and he is just one of those doctors who you can tell love their job. He was so patient with her and truly had concern and care for her. I got all my gajillion questions answered and in no way did I felt rushed, I was a content mommy who felt like I was doing everything I could at the exact right time.
Dr Young is a great friendly dr who is great with kids. My daughter has been seeing him since April 2017 for intermittent esotropia. In October my daughter saw Dr young for the last time partially because as Mom I didn't believe surgery is the best alternative for my daughter if patching failed so I sought out alternative ways to deal with her esotropia. Currently she is under the care of a Vision Therapist and is showing good results with the discussed treatment plan.I still think Dr Young is a great dr and if we have any issues the VT can't deal with we will be back to Dr Young if a need should come up.He is highly recommend if you are seeking out traditional eye care for your child,
Everyone in this office is just so nice! Dr. Young is so good with the kids. It's a drive coming from Pearl City but is well worth it to have Dr. Young keeping an eye on my daughters sight.I highly recommend coming here especially if you child needs a specialist.
Was referred to Dr David Young by my ophthalmologist,Dr Lo. I got my daughter's pcp to send a referral to Dr Young for an appointment and while they scheduled her at a decent time at that time her sleep schedule was different so I changed it to a different day and time but it's not easy to get an appointment with Dr Young. Why? Great question The receptionist up front are very friendly, they had books and a Disney movie on the tv in the waiting room. There were several other kids there as well all for Dr Young. The optometrist was very sweet to my daughter and did it in a way she felt very comfortable in a playful way. Same with Dr Young. She allowed the optometrist to do eye drops which she did with barely a fight. I explained to her the day before what's going to happen so she knew what to expect. For Dr Lo though she put up a good fight. Guess it makes a difference to specialize in pediatric medicine. They explained her diagnosis in a way I understood. Very thorough. Great dr and he comes highly recommended from a mom whose super picky when it comes to choosing drs for herself and daughter!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
