List of Dr. Michael Sheehan's Reviews
I was a patient of Dr. Sheehan's for 17 years - from the time he opened his practice until I moved away from Florida. Quite simply, he's the best there is. You might have to wait, but only because he will not rush a patient - which you will appreciate when it's you who needs someone that actually cares and pays attention.
When I asked Dr. Sheehan about results for Vanderbilt forms I submitted, he was insulting and accused me of not doing what I was supposed to be doing. In fact I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. When he returned to the exam room having discovered I submitted all the appropriate paperwork, above and beyond, he didn't acknowledge his rudeness in any way with an "oops my bad" or my apologies." It only gets worse from there. The overall outcome of this experience with him and his nurse was very bad and led to me leaving the practice traumatized for life. However, if at one point I had received an apology I wouldn't be leaving these remarks in the first place.
I don't think this anymore, At one point I thought Dr. Sheehan was a good doctor. I remembered that and requested an appt for him when a number of issues with my child were at a concerning level. One of my son's issues was neck pain. When I brought this up to him, he was derogatory and accused me of projecting my own neck pain into my son. Projection happens to be a psychological term. In other words, he denied my son was having neck pain and insinuated I was mentally ill for thinking so. He also wrote in his medical notes," mom is projecting neck pain", which was outrageously insulting. He told me not to discuss my neck anymore, which I wasn't doing anyway. My son's issues continued to escalate and at one point my son's pain was so bad he was writhing around and yelling that he wanted his head off rolling on the ground because it hurt so much. My son is hypermobile so his movements were very scary for me in that he could injure himself. I kept on calling for help only to be ignored.
I've been seeing Dr. Sheehan for many years. One of the things I love about him is he never rushes me out. He knows everything about me and my family dynamics and genuinely cares. He asks how things are going, and listens. I don't have to fill him in on the next visit (3 months later), because he documents what I share with him. It can be very stressful seeing a Dr. who doesn't seem to care, but he is different. I actually look forward to our quarterly chats. Even when my insurance changed and he was no longer on my plan, he worked out a reduced rate. I couldn't imagine having to start over with someone else. Honestly, it used to bother me that sometimes there was a long wait, but I know he gives his other patients as much time as they need as well, so I am understanding of that fact. I love the front desk staff. If I call and have to leave a message, I always have a return call the same day. This is really important. Basically you get what you put into it. :)
He is always caring, friendly and knowledgeable. He has been both of my children's primary doctor since birth. He always gives accurate, compassionate care with a smile on his face. I can't say I've disagreed with him once! My kids love him!
Dr.sheehan actually listened and acted in my concerns for my child when no one else did. He is a great doctor.
He loves money and deals with his patients front desk is terrible and uninformed of up to date national regulations
I'm writing this review from 17yrs of experience with the psychiatric community. That's A LOT of Dr.'s and MANY failed treatments! I've been seeing Dr. Sheehan for the past few years. We are slowly recovering my health, most of which was compromised by the ignorance of previous Dr.'s. Dr. Sheehan is up to date on the most current research and will show you compassion and empathy. If you can get into to see him consider yourself Blessed!
Dr. Sheehan is by far the best Psychiatrist I have met!! I live in Saint Petersburg, Fl and his office is in north Tampa, Fl so I drive over an hour to see him. I have waited an hour or so after my appointment time to see him. He takes his time with every patient, really listens, that is why there is a wait at times. When I first made an appt I was told that he was booked for months but the I could be called if there was a cancellation. I was called within a week. I have Bipolar, anxiety, panic disorder,ADD. I was at my lowest point when I came to Dr. Sheehan and now I can see the light. I have been to other Psych Dr-they only spent a few mins with me, did not care/listen, only wanted to prescribe more meds then was needed. Dr. Sheehan is a caring doctor that ask/answers questions and really listens. He doesn't just give you meds. He gives you feed back and tools to cope. You will not be disappointed, bring a book to read while you wait. The wait is so worth the care you will receive!!
Dr. Sheehan has seen my son for 6 years. He has been most patient with a difficult Bi-Polar case. He is very knowledgable about drug therapy; he does not do talk therapy much

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
