List of Philip Barasch's Reviews
Extremely unprofessional. No compassion. No bedside manners. He totally belittled my father for not being able to comprehend what he was saying. Snide comments made during exam. Seemed to have zero experience with Alzheimer patients.
The first few visits were ok, but after a biopsy was preformed he went AWOL. Never returns calls then I find out he went on vacation. The office autoattendant has the worse message menu ever.
Workman's comp appt not that important to this office so tried lightly.
Dr. Barasch always tries to help. I am allergic to all pain medications but he is still looking for a new one for me to solve my problem. He is a geat Neurologist.
BEYOND rude staff. Jocelyn was inexcusably impolite. Staff repeatedly pushed me through to the messaging system, disconnected me or put me on hold. I simply had questions regarding a medication sample the doctor gave to me (non-narcotic one-dose of CAMBIA for migraines; if it worked, he would call it in. I took it this morning at 10a upon onset of headache and called the office to get a prescription, as the doctor instructed me). Visited the office several hours after my messages to politely request whether the doctor would be calling in my prescription before the long Good Friday/Easter weekend. I was treated so incredibly bad, I was actually dumbfounded. Jocelyn slammed the office policy on the counter in front of me and told me she would "call the police" when I asked if I could wait to speak with the doctor (mind you, I was very calm and polite, I was simply trying to get some help). No nurse in office. No office manager to be found. No back-up doctors. No concern for a person's well-being or health, no respect for patients. Simply baffling. Such a shame for a doctor in practice for 47 years to let things go like this. I wound up calling my gynecologist, spoke with the nurse, and the on-call doctor called in enough of this medication for me to cover the weekend - within 5 minutes...and also wished me a Happy Easter. Note to JOCELYN, KIERA, and the rest of the staff at Neurological Specialists: this is the way you treat you patients.
I've known Dr. Barasch for a long time, and he is a good doctor; but I am not sure why any doctor would want an office staff that treats patients so poorly. This will be a deciding factor for me not to return to this practice. It is the worst patient relations service I have ever received. It's baffling how they think treating a patient this way is okay.
My husband is suffering from memory impairment and we have been trying to work with Dr Barash for 5 months to get testing done to determine the cause. Dr. Barash has only hindered the process by first recommending a clinical trial which was not appropriate for my husband. Months have gone by and he has not ordered the most basic neurological testing for a diagnosis. He failed to even do preliminary tests to rule out other factors such as Lyme disease or low B-12 levels. Only when we research possible causes did he order the labs. He does not follow up with my husband and when he does nothing happens. He is a terrible communicator and his office does not accommodate care-takers.

Dr Barash left for vacation without calling in the Rx he prescribed, and no one else in office would cover for him. The oncall neurologist said "... go to the ER", while the office staff said my symptoms were not an emergency. I'd just been discharged from hospital. I like Barash, but cannot abide by an office where physicians will not cover each other. None of his staff felt it was their responsibility to follow-though with. Was told to find an alternative neurology practice,

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
