Wouldn’t recommend
It is not Dr Chen who I would not recommend as I never met her but rather the practice, Central CT Dermatology. When I arrived for my appt today with Dr Chen, I was told that I could not see her unless I first left a $100 deposit or a credit card # on file. This was supposed to have been told to me when I made the appt but was not. I expected some flexibility in resolving this situation, for one reason because I had driven 23 miles to this office, but the ofc manager made it clear that the Drs set the policy and there were no exceptions. It appears the Drs philosophy is money driven only, does not reflect the degree of courtesy, flexibility, and professionalism I experience with my other Drs. I consider myself lucky to have discovered their priorities and not to be associated with this practice.
I had my first visit with Dr. Chen today. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The office staffer (Wanda) who first greeted me, was incredibly warm and welcoming. The medical assistant was terrific (Victoria???), friendly and professional, asking all the preliminary questions. After Victoria completed the intake, It only took a couple of minutes for Dr. Chen to come into the examining room. Dr. Chen was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. She conducted a thorough exam answered my questions and addressed my concerns. On the way out of the office, I was greeted by no fewer than 4 friendly staff members, wishing me a good day. This is what all medical appointments should be like.
Several months ago, I visited the offices of Amy Chen for a medical recommendation (as referred by my specialist.) I will say right up front that I would not place myself under the knife of Amy Chen, if my life depended on it. You may read on - or not, but wanted that noted right away. This person who - calls herself a healer - spent less than 15 minutes with me, insulted my at every turn, had not read the carefully prepared documents by my medical specialist (and she was offended when I pointed out her inaccurate statements of my history, as she was scanning the document while asking me "why are you here?") And for all that, she has the audacity to send me a bill for $3,583.00. Parting advice; never allowed someone who says to you "You want the surgery, I'll do it. Hey, I get paid by your insurance whether you need it or not." Dr. Chen is dismissive, combative, disrespectful and should not be in this profession.
Rushed me through like a drive through. Barely discussed my symptoms and just prescribed a bunch of medicine. This doctors is a perfect example of what is wrong with the U.S medical system.
The staff was friendly. I was easily able to get an appointment. Dr Chen is wonderful. I have recommended her to friends.
After taking my info & given an appointment I was told I needed to provide credit card/debit or bank accnt info to be placed on file and charged a $100. I was told flatly I wouldn't be provided services without the $100 and that the monies were not used for cost of visits but for the chance that a bill won't be paid. When I pressed the woman as to why she became irrate and said it was office policy. ...
Wonderful, caring and smart, staff awesome, thank you
Professional and courteous treatment by Dr. Chen and the staff! I really like this practice.
Dr. Chen is is a fantastic doctor and surgeon. She had requested all prior testing and results so that at my appointment with her she already knew all that information! I am in healthcare and it is rare for a doctor to take the time to request and review prior testing BEFORE the first appointment... which usually means that testing has to be repeated, or that information is requested later, which means you leave the first appt without all the information. Since she had all of that information, she was able to have a very clear and direct conversation with me. I found her to have a wonderful bedside manner-- professional and direct but compassionate. She explained my surgical options and did not push one way or the other but she presented the pros and cons of each which helped me make a decision. Overall I am so appreciative that I was referred to her and I wish more doctors were proactive about obtaining medical information as to not waste time and to provide the most comprehensive care!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
