My sister left his office with a severe injury that he would not treat because of her insurance. Ethically-- it is deplorable. Money comes first. I personally could not deal with his arrogance as I accompanied her to the appointment. She could barely ambulate alone.

My calls went unanswered. I suffered needlessly in horrible pain post surgery and he was not the least bit concerned about me. I was not treated well and cannot recommend him to others who wish to be treated like a person who needs help and is in pain. $$$$$ is the priority here--not you.

I highly recommend this extremely skilled surgeon. Dr. Dunleavy replaced both my hips. I am now pain free. He is extraordinarily dedicated with a laser-like focus, highly professional and knowledgeable and soon he will be performing surgery on my husband's knees.

Giving average starts, because the review I initiated was for the wrong doctor, and I can't take it down. I have never seen this doctor.

Very dismissive of my needs and my progress was delayed by the lack of communication. Ignored my calls. Just terribly rude and arrogant and I will not be back.

Avoid. Very inattentive, domineering, sent my wife home with a broken leg, Only accepts insurances that pay him the most. Will ask/persuade people to have their surgeries in Hartford so he can make more money operating there. Lied to me several times. Just a stressful mess of an experience and it did not have to be. Caused more pain and tension that my joint replacement should have been and this is not good medicine. I needed my stress lessened and my needs attended to and my calls returned not ignored. Seems to have particular dislike for female patients.

Great facilities. The staff is great, every time I go in or call they give me their 100%. Dr Dunleavy is very professional and very friendly. Yolanda at the front desk is so helpful.

Overly "professional", surgery successful, but the resulting limited range of motion, makes me wonder why I bothered. Before surgery. my knee was unstable, trying to walk on uneven surfaces, or kick a soccer ball past my grandson, were difficult endeavors. No real improvement. and now, I have to get used to this Knee that is NOT my own.Oh yeah, the lymph node issues. Don;t get me started.

Last year Dr. Dunleavy performed my second hip replacement. His extraordinary skill, focus and dedication helped to smooth the way for my speedy recovery. I am forever grateful to his mastery as a surgeon. I am pain free and walking. I highly recommend this superb surgeon.

He makes more money if he inconveniences you and has you go for surgery in Hartford. CT Joint Replacement Institute had good staff except for the sadistic PAs who "treated" me. I was left in horrendous pain and awake the night after my surgery. The nurse tried everything to help me but the PA would not give me the needed pain medication despite no history of addiction of any kind on my part. Dr. Dunleavy has a temper and he riled a nurse who answered his phone call the nice day. It was a very stressful, painful time made worse by finding rides (and paying for them) to and from Hartford. All so he can make MORE money? Where does the patient fit in here? He told me if I went to Hartford my "incision will be smaller and they have better anesthesiology". Interesting. My incision is the same length as everyone's incision and it is crooked. No complications with surgery as far as I know. Overall this experience was made more dreadful and stressful than it should have been. My calls were ignored totally. I'm not certain receptionists have been trained to realize they are dealing with people in severe pain and distress.
