List of Jeffrey L. Oberman's Reviews
I have to say that Dr. Oberman's practice where he currently works is the worst operation I have ever experienced. Accompanying my wife for her follow up visit after her procedure which took place last year, our appointment time was completely ignored by his office. After waiting an hour without anyone contacting us, we asked the receptionist for information as to why there was such a delay. No information was provided. Returning to the waiting area wondering what to do, the doctor was leaving one of his patients on the way to his next one and I learned from him that he scheduled his patient office visits in groups for a given time and then asks them to wait for him to find the time to actually see them. Basically overbooking a time slot to conform to his treatment methods. This is totally disrespectful to his patients who expect his individual attention and treatment and ignores the specific circumstances of each patient's requirements. For anyone who reads this, please consider other optometrists if you can. Since this guy joined the ReFocus group a few years ago , his patient performance rating has plummeted and my wife and I are so disappointed, wishing that we had other options following her procedure performed by him a year ago.
I was extremely pleased woth the outcome of my cataract surgery. Dr Oberman is a brilliant eye Doctor and Surgeon. I had a lot of anxiety beforehand. He knew exactly which intra ocular lens would suit my eyes, despite my asking for other options. I am so happy I chose him as my surgeon. He follows up and was available on the weekend if I needed him.
Dr. Oberman takes excellent care of me and has for 30 yrs. His clinicians, Especially Jody are caring! The reception staff, however needs improvement in the way that they treat patients! Also, I just received a bill for $260.00 for my husband who was there for a diabetic eye exam that insurance does cover. One phonecall took care of that. Mistakes are made but things have to be looked at and supervised more carefully! Marie R
First of all, this review is not about Dr. Oberman, it is about MYEYEDR. and specifically DAWN the office manager at the Westport location. I made an appointment with them just because they were in network and a routine eye exam had a $0 copay. Upon check in, I was immediately explained about a $44 upcharge for photos of my eyes, instead of dilation. I approved. After my exam, in which additional questions I had about my eye health were denied because it would have to be a separate, medical appointment, from my routine exam. No problem. This is where the confusion began. When I came out to order my contact lenses that they prescribed, I was told that they did not have the contacts that THEY prescribed, in their system, so I would have to pay $145 for the exam. I explained that I had a $0 copay with my insurance, and I refused to pay. I was told that if I did not order from them TODAY, that I would be responsible for payment. I was told that I had no choice or options. I asked if I could order a different lense that WAS in there system and was told that I would have to wait for that answer. I asked DAWN (office manager that I was dealing with) to call me with the answer as I had other errands to run. She insisted that I pay first while awaiting the answer to an option that was available, but was told wasn't. DAWN told me to sit down and wait, that she had "other things to do". This is where I made the unfortunate mistake in frustration, of using a bad word in asking what she had to do more importantly than helping a customer? There was one older man that was already checked in and waiting to go back, but no one else at the front desk where I was. I called my insurance company immediately and spoke with a representative that said to just submit the mailed bill to them and payment would be sent to MYEYEDR. Simple. The point of my review is how rude and unwilling to help with an insurance matter (which is not my strongest skill) between MYEYEDR. and the insurance company, DAWN was. She was very condescending, smug, and argumentative with a customer that was just weak and confused regarding insurance. BEWARE of trying to save a couple of bucks and sacrificing basic customer service guidelines. DO NOT GO TO MYEYEDR. in Westport. *UPDATE TO FOLLOW*
I want to express my thanks both to Dr. Oberman, the office personal and the surgical unit staff for an excellent job and a prefect experience with my cataract surgery. Who wouldn't be squeamish ... but everyone was very supportive, positive and reassuring through out the entire process and in the end - like they all said - this is an easy one and they were right. Thank you all for a job well done.
Dr. Oberman and his staff at ReFocus Eye Care in Westport are outstanding. I have been a patient of Dr. Oberman since he opened his practice. He is an excellent doctor and his assistant, Jodie, is great as well. He has dedicated office personnel who have been with him for many, many years. If you need an eye doctor I would highly recommend his practice.
Exceptional knowledge, experience and a terrific result for me. I had two cataracts compounded by Lasik surgery 20+ years ago and astigmatisms in both eyes. One eye had been corrected for reading and the other for distance. This usually adds up to a not-so-perfect result. However, Dr. Oberman chose the perfect/new lens for my situation and my vision in both eyes is now 20/25. He explained everything perfectly and I never felt rushed to make a decision. His staff is friendly and very efficient. The Norwalk Center for Surgery was also excellent in all regards. I cannot recommend him highly enough. A+ all around.
Dr. Oberman is an outstanding professional ! Dr. Oberman performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes. His professional approach in explaining my examination results and providing an explanation of alternative treatment approaches was excellent. The surgery was successful, and today my vision is perfect. I strongly recommend that Dr. Oberman's services be used by anyone needing Ophthalmology services.
I visited Dr Oberman when I lost sight in my left eye. The experience was terrifying. Dr Oberman supported me despite my severe anxiety and eye phobia. I was treated with respect, kindness and dignity, Dr Oberman offered me treatment options that aligned with my finances. After my left eye surgery, my right vision was declining, Dr Oberman operated my right eye as well. The office is clean and welcoming. My sight is now fully restored. I went from blind to seeing and I am so grateful.
Dr. Oberman took the difficult job that it seems staffers could have done: He came to the lobby to tell me that because of an answer I gave to the Covid-related questionnaire I would not be allowed in for my scheduled visit and would have to reschedule. He was the utmost professional. It was uncomfortable but I respected not only adhering to the strict protocols but Dr. Oberman coming out and talking to me personally and directly. When I rescheduled and had my appointment then I got to see his excellent ophthalmology.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
