Misdiagnosed my MG. Droopy eyelid. Classic symptom of MG. Instead, he sent me to see a cosmetic surgeon. Not much of a bedside manner

Dr. Ehlers is one of the most thorough and compassionate doctor I have seen. He spends a good length of time explaining what is wrong, what is right and how he is going to address a problem. He is just wonderful!

Horrible experience unfortunately. From the tech doing the testing forcing me to wear my dollar store 4.00 glasses for testing. I explained multiple times they weren’t real glasses, that I had never seen an eye doctor before. The Doctor arrived late, completely flip/sarcastic. Thought everything was amusing. Very rushed visit (now 4:50pm). I had a lot of questions as I was referred by my neurologist, experiencing severe eye issues. He/She didn’t answer a single question I had (didn’t ask me a single question about my vision). The glasses I was wearing kept fogging up due to wearing a mask. So their solution was to tape down the mask. The tech had alcohol on their fingers which got in my eyes as they taped. They taped my bottom eyelid and eyelashes down to my face. Both mistakes irritated my eyes for the entire eye test, they didn’t care. A waste of time and money. Not to mention I had never had an eye test done, my plan was to drive myself home lol. They didn’t tell me I wouldn’t be able to see after. I don’t drive at night and they dragged the appointment into night time. I couldn’t see in the parking garage to pay my ticket to leave the garage. I sat in the dark parking garage for an hour and a half before I could get my vision back to pay the ticket at the kiosk and be able to get out of the garage and go home. That was my first eye exam experience… Choose a different Dr in the practice!

Was not informed before appointment that students would be present.

He performed cataract surgery on me and was extremely patient with me during the transition. Very professional and explains everything in detail. Everything came out as planned.

Dr. Ehlers has treated me for over 20 years for glaucoma, myopia, presbyopia and cataracts. Along with a highly-skilled staff, he uses some of the most modern diagnostic tools and equipment that one could imagine. 2 weeks ago I was legally blind in both eyes; and now I see 20/20 after he surgically removed my 2 cataracts and replaced them with custom-powered lens implants. WOW!!! I feel lucky to have him in my health network, Hartford HealthCare. Thank you, Doctor! BTW, he works out of 2 locations -- UCONN John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington; and an office suite in W. Hartford.

Dr. Ehlers seemed rushed and distracted. He seems to have not remembered that he already examined my eyes, and did exactly the same thing for the second appointment. He then suggested more tests without any substantiation of need. I would not recommend him.

I have been treated by Dr. Ehlers for 4 years and trust my sight to him!

I was referred to Dr. Ehlers for a simple eye exam since I have Type 2 diabetes. I received the most comprehensive eye exam imaginable and Dr. Ehlers has monitored an issue closely. He explains every issue and all the ramifications. He also checks every test I ever had and there have been many. I was very impressed with detailed approach he takes and when you leave your appointment you feel confident that he won't miss anything. He takes plenty of time both in the examination and in communicating with his patients.

My family and I have been going to De. Ehlers since 1991. My son shot himself in the eye with a sling shot tube and Dr. Ehlers saved my sons vision.
