I was very concerned about the cataract surgery due to my pass car accident around my left eye. Once meeting with Dr Romania I was very excited about proceeding with the procedure. My first step was getting my glaucoma done then move on to the cataract surgery. The glaucoma procedure was extremely quick and with great results immediately. His staff at the office and surgical center are wonderful and very intent on making you feel at easy. So now the cataract surgery. I was dumbfounded how amazing I could see out of my right eye with in 24 hours and could not wait for the left eye to be done. The results were as good but the healing did take a little longer due to my lazy eye lid. I no longer wear contacts or need glasses. I highly recommend you take advantage of the Romania Eye Center for your surgical needs. I have given his name to six of my friends all ready, who also need to have cataract surgery. I would give a 100% A Plus to Dr Romania and his awesome staff.

Everything was great! I practically enjoyed myself on surgery day! The whole team was friendly, fun, set me at ease.

PLEASE!!! Be well versed in your insurance and legal rights before becoming a patient here In the process of becoming a patient I had a consult and then a records appointment which they submitted to my insurance company. Weeks later, they refused to submit to my insurance for surgery even though no prior authorization was necessary. They even refused to submit an advanced request which would have would have given them the answer they needed. I was then told by the office manager that “A new policy was instituted; the office was no longer taking ANYONE'S medical insurance for that procedure.” They proceeded to then require me to pay in full, up front, out of my own pocket, the doctors’ fees, if I wanted to move forward with the surgery. I asked for my medical records. They told me that to get a copy of my 7 page medical record it would be a $250 charge. The state of Connecticut’s portal clearly states “No provider shall charge more than sixty-five cents per page” I asked them to transfer them to my new eye doctor and they said they would then charge THAT doctor the $250 fee.

Just a quick response- Dr. Romania stated hat I had excellent vision at the next day post operative visit. Totally inaccurate- I complained that my vison was worse. I even asked for an eyeglass prescription to tide me over until my vision improved.. The only mention of my retinopathy was at the pre-op visit, where he told me he could treat it after the cataract surgery. He NEVER mentioned Retina Group until my primary doctor called to tell him I was having problems and swelling. My doctor was told to refer me to Retina Group at that time. Dr. Romania never spoke to me. No call- no follow-up. I am not blaming him for the issues I'm having, It is possible that the condition just happened to worsen within a day or two of the cataract surgeries, but I do think that he should have at least followed-up with me personally. A quick office visit or phone call to explain the issue and tell me why he was not the best person to treat me would have been appropriate.

After the first eye was done, I could see distance THAT NIGHT without glasses after 35 years. After the second eye was done yesterday, I can type this even without “cheaters”. I had a significant astigmatism in one eye (but not the other) which did require a special lenses at an additional cost, but it was well worth it. I recommend Dr. Romania without hesitation.

His office was professional and courteous. And most importantly the outcome was fantastic - It exceeded my expectations. I was referred to Dr. Romania for cataract surgery. His office was efficient and more importantly the outcome was terrific. I really didn't know what to expect except that I would no longer need glasses for distance (I would need something for close). The SAME NIGHT as my first eye (they were done a week apart) I could watch TV with no glasses! After the second eye was done yesterday, the vision became balanced. It was fascinating to see how colors changed. I am thrilled with the outcome and wish I hadn't waited so long to get it done!

After 10 months and four different doctors I was referred to Dr.Romania and he diagnose my condition and prescribed the perfect medication for my eyes. And now I'm able to see perfectly.But the most important thing for me about this doctor was that he listen to me and my needs pertaining to my vision which is super important to me.Can't thank you enough..
