Walden Behavioral Care - Guilford Clinic's Online Review Report Card

My first experience with them was when I had to make a very upsetting serious call to get help for a family member and the person who answered was laughing and giggling with another person on the other end with them. I started to speak and they continued to giggle so I hung up. Horrible and unprofessional!

Avoid this treatment center. They are not transparent and will try to coercive your child into unnecessary residential treatment by calling DCF, and then kick her out of PHP so you become non compliant with care for your child. We had to go to private treatment center to avoid DCF taking our child without any supporting medical documentation. If she needs treatment so terribly bad why kick her out?

walden had it’s ups but majority of the time i was there i felt as if i wasn’t really taken serious and no one had taken into consideration what i was saying before it gotten serious. i knew the signs of my relapse and while they said that they “ heard and understood me” nothing was done about it until i legitimately had to go to the ICU bc my body was shutting down. i also had never met with the dietitian except for once and when i did meet with her she never talked about my meal plan but about what i was doing to relapse. i had met some amazing staff who seemed to care but by the time i really needed the help they seemed to push away more. I want to say it was the timing of when i was there because it was very difficult for everyone but i still feel as tho regardless of the time more steps should have been taken to support me in the way that was needed. my therapist was nice tho. I also felt at some point I was being avoided which is probably just a thought that was trickling through irrational side of my thought process but it didn’t make me feel any better about being somewhere i already didn’t want to be. again walden did have its ups and I had a few amazing successes there just the way that things ended for me wasn’t really the best way. although i didn’t have the best experience i would never say to not try walden because everyone has different experiences. also I had never gotten a say goodbye or even address the concerns that I had because I had gotten discharged as i was in the icu and then I had gotten sent to residential. I’m in a different php now and I am really hoping that if I had gotten the chance to address some of the problems that i was facing the experience would have been different. I do miss the staff because they did try to be supportive and i think I had a great connection with my therapist. anyways i recommend walden i just also recommend doing the opposite of what i did and voice your opinions/issues if you have any because that is the best way for you to be heard and for them to understand you because it might seem like they have it together but, they still aren’t mind readers haha :).

peachyupdated review: when I wrote the last review, I was not completely convinced that I liked walden. The staff all seemed nice and the environment was welcoming. However, it is only after all this time that I realize that this program is much different from others. The staff here truly care about each kid and their general well-being. You can tell that they actually want to work there and are passionate about it. I appreciate Walden for taking a chance with me when no other place would because it has made all the difference.

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Not only did they charge me $600 for an evaluation (WITHOUT TELLING ME), the evaluation consisted of general questions that could have been filled out by a form. The woman I met with also tried to coerce me into joining a five day a week group program that was an hour from me. Even after I told her I don't feel comfortable with group work, she tried to guilt me into joining. This place is literally only about getting your money and don't care about helping. AVOID.
