My experience was significantly different He came in TOTALLY UNPREPARED Did NOT know my age/who referred me/ medical/surgical history/ Had NOT read the note my oncologist sent/ Had NOT taken my case to the tumor board which had happened the day before my visit Note: all of this information was readily available to him Instead said he COULDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS because the transplant surgeons do that part of the surgery and he HADN'T talked to them I'm thinking this type of slapdash care is the reason for the 2 STEP DIFFERENCE IN THE SURVIVAL RATING---US NEWS Oncology Rankings YALE 51.2/100 nationally ranked Nurse staffing=EXCELLENT-- 30 day survival=EXCELLENT-- DC to home=ABOVE avg-- Recognized as Nurse Magnet hospital=YES-- NCI-designated cancer center=YES HARTFORD 23.4/100 NOT nationally ranked-- Nurse staffing=avg--30 day survival=avg--DC to home=avg--Recognized as Nurse Magnet=NO--NCI-designated cancer center=NO

Dr. Schipper performed my surgery over a year ago. Prior to my surgery, I met with him and found him to be easy to talk to, and he explained the type of surgery in a clear, concise manner. He also gave ample time in asking questions about it. Dr. Schipper is a highly competent surgeon, and therefore I would highly recommend him.

My surgeon retired and I was referred to Dr Schipper. So very pleased! His professional staff got me in promptly to see him. My surgery request and concerns were accommodated and carried out as scheduled.. He answered my questions and explained clearly what was going to take place. I had full confidence In his skill and appreciated his down to earth / bed side manner!! I TRUST HIM WITH MY FAMILY and highly recommend him !!
