List of David Yan Chung Md's Reviews
Funny, because I found him very rude, too. !!!Impatient. And he didn't clean his hands with ne, either. And oddly everyone needed Laser Rx, coming out of his room. EVERYONE
Dr Yan might know what he’s talking about but he was rude and very impatient (did not want to entertain questions, only wanted to ring up the next patient). Plus he didn’t wash his hands or wear gloves before manhandling my face and eyes. It’s clear he only cares about billing as many patients as he can
If you want a doctor with excellent qualifications and expertise then you want to be referred to Dr Yan. I was a bit apprehensive before my initial visit given some reviews I saw on this site. I can only conclude they were written by idiots. I found him to be most considerate and thorough. Count yourself lucky if you find yourself in his care.
It's clear the reason he's the head of Mt Sinai eye clinic is because he pushes people through like cattle to the slaughter. OHIP billings 1st and foremost for which they should give this man a 🏆 as there are indeed hordes of patients waiting for hours beyond their appointed time, without fail. Mass overbooking is THE norm there, for years already. If you have little reason to discuss anything with him, he's quick and goes about what he needs to do, 4 minutes, in and out. I gave him all due respect until one day, I dared ask him a question relevant to meds he wanted to prescribe that are discont'd in USA (with class action he didn't know about) and it changed the whole story. His hesitant 1-word answers beget more ?s Just don't even deem to interfere with his time flow or you risk getting fired as a patient. Sorry to say, this man is dictatorial, to be sure.
I'm sure Dr. Yan is an excellent doctor and well qualified but I haven't had such good luck with him. Since my first surgery I've had problems with my one eye that I didn't have prior to the surgery. I've had no explanation. He doesn't spend five minutes with you so you have no time to ask questions or get answers. He's out the door so quickly that it's frustrating. You wait two to three hours to see him too! Then you get told to come back in three months time. Also, if there is a problem, you can't speak to anyone in the clinic if you phone. They want you to email and then you wait a week or so to hear back from them. Nothing is treated as urgent.
Beware of an office that tells you the consultation is free. I went to Dr. Yan for a consult and after seeing him his assistant never got back with me to schedule the procedure. Therefore, I went elsewhere and received a bill for $150.00 which I did not pay after several conversations with the office staff. They turned it over to collections.
Dr. Yann, thank you for the great service and care.
My name is Azhar. Dr yann did two surgeries of my eyes. Right 3 month &half and the left one mont & half. After the surgery, I never felt better, I have pain, inflammation, redness my eyes. For which I visited him few times, but he was not ready to listen any thing. Always very rude and sometimes he screamed at me, shouted me. He almost ruined my eyes. Because my eyes are not normal now, and I dont any help from him. I am sure that he is not qualified for this kind surgery. I think he should be taken away from this sensitive work.
Believe or not the best service in doctor’s clinic I’ve received since I’ve been in Canada. God Bless
Inside the clinic, it's a hustling and bustling business like a fish market! But you can't call this private clinic as they have a recorded message playing all the time. Only emails are entertained with a 7 day SLA. Wow!!! We cannot wait 7 days for your response. No phone call or messages allowed. What nonsense is this? After our last visit to Dr. Yan for consultation on glaucoma assessment, we were skeptical to proceed with him for the laser procedure due to his arrogant behaviour. I had mentioned to him that my wife doesn't communicate well in English, hence allow me to translate! He rudely told me to stay quiet as she must be able to understand his sign language! While checking her eyes, my wife didn't put her chin properly at the right place despite his sign directions. He held her head from behind and aggresively pulled it closer! We tolerated this unethical behavior and remained polite to ensure no retaliation from him as it was our need to get properly assessed ... Luckily, today, we got to read reviews of Dr. Yan and his cattle like treatment with his patients. He may be a good doctor and an MIT graduate, but all the negative reviews about him can't be wrong! We don't want to judge him based on the reviews. But we want to safeguard ourselves and exercise our option of finding a better doctor based on such terrible reviews of Dr. Yan. I wonder why OCC doesn't take a notice despite years of negative reviews of Dr. Yan? Unlike fellow reviewers, we are taking the decision of not jumping into the fire pit.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
