I truly believe Dr Ostroff saved my life some years ago. I found him to be kind helped me in a very hard time in my life. It took a bit of time but he got me on the road to recovery and I will be ever so grateful.I highly recommend him.

This man treated my son for depression with ECT treatments and none of them worked. My son is better now from another doctors treatment although he will never be the same due to memory loss from these treatments that Ostroff did and he acted like he really didn’t even care. Stay far away from this man.

Dr Ostroff recommended ECT for long standing depression. Before I agreed to this treatment I told him Id read that it can cause memory problems. He said hed never had an ECT patient suffer memory loss. When the ECT didnt work (I had severe short term memory loss), he said it was because you have borderline personality disorder. He showed zero compassion and didnt even tell me what borderline was. I went home and looked it up on the internet. I was devastated. I was alone. Within a year of meeting Dr Ostroff I went from fully employed to permanently disabled. Im glad to read he helps some people but he ruined my life. He also determined that I shouldnt be angry at my previous psychiatrist who kept no records over a six year period during which he prescribed all kinds of drugs. I had every right to be angry.

Dr. Ostroff is special. He listens to me, treats me with respect, and lets me know he truly cares. You may think all psychiatrists should be this way, but many are not. He has played a major role in my recovery, and in large part due to his knowledge and compassion, I am healthy. It may be difficult to get an appointment, but its worth the wait.

Dr. Ostroff saved my life. The care that I received from him and his team at Yale was the most comprehensive, informed, and compassionate that I have ever experienced. He has a wonderful manner: he is astute yet approachable, discerning and professional, but also funny (a bit of levity goes a long way in times of acute personal crisis.) The most memorable part of my treatment was the implied message he consistently communicated to methat I would prevail. I am grateful to him and YPH.

While difficult to get in to be seen, because everyone wants to see Dr Ostroff, the living legend, it is a lifechanging experience! He has tons of knowledge and no ounce of arrogance. He is wise and joyful. He is a pleasure to see and a wonderful model to follow. Most gratefully, one of his very many patients and disciples.

Dr. Ostroff, while being in a helping profession seems less than concerned about the people hes supposed to be helping then I would have imagined from someone in his position.

I had a terrible experience with ECT under Dr. Ostroffs care. At a time when I could barely function, his lack of compassion and understanding was something to behold.
