Steven Spector's Online Review Report Card

I saw Dr. Spector 20 years ago when I was 6 years old and the only thing I remember about him was him being a total pervert, arrogant and unprofessional. I had lots of emotional issues as a child and didn’t know how to regulate them so my Mom took me to see this disgrace of a doctor. I told my Mom I wanted to shoot her. Of course I would never do this and I didn’t even know what I was saying… I was SIX. And no one in my family ever even owned a gun. So my Mom told him I said that in hopes of helping me regulate my emotions in a better way and his way of “resolving” it was drawing a picture of a naked man and a naked woman and solely explaining what the genitals were on each gender of his drawings. Even as a six year old I was smart enough to know this was weird, wrong, and completely irrelevant. I’m so glad I told my Mom that he did that because she never had me go back there. When my Mom confronted him, his justification was that he was trying to “show me how a body worked since I said I wanted to shoot my Mom.” Disgusting man. Please don’t ever take your kids to this nasty pedo. Lord knows what would have happened if I continued seeing him. For anyone that says he’s helped your kids it’s probably because he is GROOMING them. Do not see this monster. I’m still haunted by it 20 years later.

I only sat in on one session my 19 year old son had with Dr Spector and my son has been seeing him for a little over a year now. He has helped tremendously. He is direct and factual so I can see how people might see it as arrogant or rude, but that is what my son needed. I really liked that he was very understanding and nonjudgmental. With my son's permission he took the time to send me an email telling me how well my son was adjusting to college and how great he was doing with his therapy. He also helped us find a therapist that specialized in OCD and provided several websites to help us understand OCD better. Together they have given me my happy thriving son back.

The worst. Unprofessional, rude and incompetent. I took my son to see him and he was “Dr” Spector was awful.

I have taken my son to several doctors in the last year plus. Dr. Spector was the first and only doctor to provide relief for my son who suffers from OCD, anxiety and depression. He is very thorough, professional and non-judgmental. He communicates well and is responsive to all communications. I wish we found him a year ago. My son finally has hope for the future.

Pretty sure the negative reviews are all from the same guy...anyway... I first saw Dr. Spector when I was 17 and I truly believe I would not be here today if not for him. He helped me escape some very dark places. I am now 41 and have periodically seen him throughout my adulthood when I have gone through difficult times. He has always helped me put things in perspective. He is a terrific therapist and an even better human-being. I would give 6 stars if I could.

Steven Spector is unprofessional, unhelpful, and above all, rude. He makes very little effort to actually assist his patients, and he is very, VERY arrogant. He does not respect privacy, both that of his patients and strangers whose cases he's never even LOOKED at, and he is all around someone I would never recommend. He makes people feel worse than when they walked in, and he never seems very focused on actually helping. Maybe he makes a positive impact on children, but not adults. If he wants to be a therapist, maybe he should take some classes on how not to be a total a-hole.

I got a little chuckle out of some of these 1 star reviews. My 6 year old son has been seeing Dr Spector for quite some time now. Dr Spector is caring, compassionate and completely understanding. He is able to reach my son in a way I am not capable of. He has made such a positive impact on my son's life at home and at school. He listens to my son and my son feels comfortable talking to him when my son usually does not open up to adults. We are always able to get an appointment in a timely manner and we never wait longer than a few minutes to see Dr Spector. I cannot suggest Dr Spector enough for anyone who has a child that needs help. These 1 star reviews are obviously a mistake and false.
