James Duffy's Online Review Report Card

I'm a bit confused about the top complaint, here it is... If you want a Dr. who will do a terrible job Duffy is your man. I had to have two knee replacements in 7 months on the same knee because of him it never bothered him at all he didn't want to admit what a bad job he did both times not to mention he damaged the nerve going to my foot. Take my advice run from this guy. Humm, first of all why are you getting surgery from a Psychiatric Dr. Instead of a Neurologist? And second I don't think Dr. Duffy would agree to such a thing. I think you have your Dr.'s mixed up or something.

Had gone to Dr. Duffy after many psychs, drugs, etc., hospitalizations and therapists. He was the warmest, most compassionate man I have ever met. He listened carefully, made suggestions that were of true worth. I happen to be a disobedient person and realize now that I should have listened, I am now. I am now getting my “mojo” back. Thanks doc.

So I used to see the doctor, then I switched. I was really going through my OCD/Anxiety/Depression, so I wasn't really caring how I looked at the time and I remember he criticized me for how I look, telling me how "I don't respect myself", he is the worst Doctor I have every worked with. I don't understand why he is a doctor, he just seems like an old, miserable, conceited, white man from the UK. I don't understand how he gets away with what he does. Oh and once I saw him by the train station, I ignored him.

Dr. Duffy listens whole heartedly. Sometimes the doctors we choose to go to say things and do things we may not agree with. I am pretty intellectual, knowledgeable and smart and just because I may be those, I still don't know what's best for me, sometimes. Dr. Duffy pushed me with some issues I was not comfortable with and I have to say I didn't like him very well at the time. That's what good doctors do. That's when you know they care. Dr. Duffy listened to me and we had to agree to disagree on some things and when I look back now on some of the things I disagreed on, Dr. Duffy was correct. I have had a few unprofessional and unethical doctors in my time and Dr. Duffy is not one of them and one I could and can trust and I have big trust issues. I personally do NOT like taking medication. Dr. Duffy knew that and he didn't put more medications on me than I needed and actually didn't prescribe what I thought I needed and explained to me his reasonings and gave me exercises to do instead, different kinds of meditations. I liked his approach, even though I felt he wasn't listening to what I thought I needed, he knew I didn't like taking meds and he gave me a different alternative to what I thought I needed at the time. Dr. Duffy was compassionate and listened to me and was very knowledgeable. He really had me think. If you're looking for a doctor to give you what you want and not need and a doctor that does truly care, then Dr. Duffy is probably not the Doctor for you.

I have had positive and beneficial sessions with Dr. Duffy. He took the time to listen to my whole situation before prescribing me with medication. Sure, this process was not done within one session, but it was nice to know he cared about actually treating me correctly, rather than simply writing a script to get me out the door. He also provided ways I can continue to heal through meditation and other beneficial exercises. It seems the previous reviewer is upset Dr. Duffy did not prescribe them with a stimulant like Adderall to help with your "concentration" issues (which is way more over-prescribed and abused than Wellbutrin) . For those patients looking for an "easy medication of your choosing" route, Dr. Duffy may not be the right doctor for you.

I had the same exact experience as the other user with the addition of Dr. Duffy refusing to refill my regularly prescribed medication until I made a second appointment with him (a two-week to month-long process).

This man does not appear to actually care about helping his patients. In addition, he is condescending, judgmental, and imposing. I went to him in regards of having problems with concentration and he attempted to prescribe me Wellbutrin, which is an Anti-Depressant. Fortunately I was aware of the numerous negative side-effects that accompany Anti-Depressants and I rightly declined. However, I can imagine many others in my position not being informed enough to make the same decision as me and as a result give in to this doctor's pressures. I can now see where America's serious problem with Anti-Depressant dependency comes from: bad doctors like James D. Duffy. He was also very critical of everything that I said and did not make me feel comfortable at all talking to him or disclosing any personal information to him. If you care about your health then I would avoid this doctor at all costs.
