List of Barbara Orrok's Reviews
Dr. Orrak needs to retire. I gave her information that she wasn’t aware of because she doesn’t know enough to stay current with more effective forms of psychiatric care. I made her aware of Dr. Daniel Amen, his clinics across the USA, and the SPECT scan that actually looks at pictures of the brain. Diagnosis after actually looking at the brain is much more effective in treatment outcomes than listening to a patient talk and then prescribing meds after a 10 minute conversation. That method is old school and it’s like throwing darts at a wall hoping something will stick. It’s difficult for Medicare patients to find qualified psychiatric care because Highly Educated psychiatrists/therapists charge more than what Medicare is willing to pay. So the result is slim pickings.
Sometimes the wait is longer than expected. Other than that, he actively listens and takes steps to improve and whatever situation you're dealing with. I would give five stars if the waiting time wasn't so unpredictable. It has gotten much better since she moved to her new office in Hamden but there is room for improving wait time. She is very attentive and she cares.
She always helps me realize other ways to see situations
She is compassionate and knowledgeable.
I had met with Dr. Orrok once back on April 7th regarding medication for anxiety, and she had given me a script to fill at my pharmacy. The pharmacy needed more info from her before filling it so they sent a fax and left a voicemail but didnt hear back so the pharmacy called me to tell me, and I left her either 3 or 4 voicemails over the span of a week waiting to hear back so i could get my prescription filled, and to this day have not heard anything. Very frustrating because it takes a lot for me to even actually open up to a doctor regarding mental health, especially with how bad my anxiety was over the quarantine due to COVID-19. All of this still seems very unprofessional, and I am a little sketched out by it. She seemed very nice, i just don't know what happened, and why I had never heard anything back.
I love dr. Orrok. Yes sometimes do you have to wait, yes. That only tells me one thing that she cares enough for her patients to talk to them until they are in a better place and if that requires me to wait a bit longer I have no issues. She is very caring and extremely knowledgeable. I would not go anywhere else.
I was a patient of this quack posing as a doctor. She acted in a manner that should of been prosecuted criminally. Losing her license isn’t a strict enough punishment. Her actions regarding a prescription I was on almost killed me. I suggest you find another doctor immediately so you don’t suffer the way I did. I wish you all the best!!
I personally met Dr Orrok once in my life. She was late for the appt I made with her, and seemed to be “called in” when patients arrived for their appts. I should’ve taken that as a red flag but I didn’t. She apologized and we began our appt. to which she was typing messily fast trying to type the things I was saying rather than listen. Very haphazard and unorganized. Her office has half partition walls - and you can hear the secretary answer phones. It’s very - non private. And then she hustled me to her neighboring therapist so she could bill my insurance as well. Sneaky billing, poor practices.
This woman's incompetence is insulting. Almost impossible to reach, you can't even get in touch with her after she sends an incomplete prescription to the pharmacy. She will leave you high and dry - she doesn't even have any room on her voicemail to complain on. If you're interested in your sanity & proper med management, steer very clear of "Dr." Barbara Orrock.
I could say a lot but this doctor is not at all what she seems She prescribe medication cannot get follow up..will no longer be seeing her saw her once second appointment she had me waiting too long spoke on phone a couple of times then no call on one appointment now she will not give me the refill needed until I find another doctor

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
