Christopher Gottschalk Md's Online Review Report Card

Wait time is lengthy but that’s the least of my problems. Dr. Gottschalk is very dismissive and has horrible bedside manners if you get him on a bad day. Went in for my chronic migraine and kept giving me triptans I already told him I have taken and do NOT work so instead he got frustrated with me and said I’m “a lost cause” It was then I decided to look for another neurologist that would never speak to me or any patient again. I did some reading and it seems he is promoting specific medicines because he is being paid into his pockets to promote pharmaceutical drugs. He is making money off of it. While I do believe it can be for a good cause, remember he could be suggesting you a medicine he is promoted to do

I was not at all impressed with Dr. Gottschalk’s care. After waiting months for an appointment for a migraine that had become intractable for 3 months, Dr. Gottschalk suggested to “break” my headache and come in for an infusion. After being infused with multiple meds in his clinic, I left feeling much worse than I arrived even though he assured me it was “normal.” When I got home, I became physically sick from the meds and was unable to contact him about what to do and scrambled to find another doctor to help me. When I was later put on a medication that was giving me severe abdominal pain, I was unable to contact him about what to do. He would never respond to any emails or messages and quite frankly seemed uninterested in the care of his patients. I ended up having to seek treatment and medical advice elsewhere since he was unable to be contacted. My advice is to stay away from Dr. Gottschalk as you will never get a response.

I do not have enough great things to say about Dr. Christopher Gottschalk! I have been a patient of his for almost 8 years. He saved my life after a collision! He took one look at me and me have hope and feel like I would be able to function again one day soon! He is the kindest, most thorough, and real doctor I have ever met. He has so much experience and never runs out of ideas! He is very aggressive with his medical interventions and is knows how to mitigate issues quickly and with longevity! Without him on my medical team, I do not know where’s I would be! I do not have enough kind words to say about him!

Between Dr Gottschalk and Dr Yeung, both at Yale Neurology, I spent 4 years in excruciating facial pain. Between Dr Gottschalk and Dr Yeung, both at Yale Neurology, I spent 4 unnecessary in excruciating facial pain. Because I presented with unusual bilateral facial pain, Dr Yeung disregarded my symptoms and diagnosed me with Persistent Idiopathic Facial Pain, a garbage diagnosis. When all the medications failed i decided to try Botox, which is where Dr Gottschalk came in. He did not want to hear about my theory that I had Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia and maybe another neuralgia. I showed him the various criteria I met on the International Classification of Headache Diseases within the facial neuralgia section. Nope. I went to a world renowned expert in the area of facial neuralgia. He read my pain logs, my McGill Pain Scale, looked at my sketch showing the location and type of pain on my face. He said I was right, I had TN2, or Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia. Guess who disregarded this information? A new MRI, the RIGHT KIND POINTING AT THE CORRECT PART OR MY SKULL, showed i had a surgical option, one i would have take 4 years earlier if only Keung and Gottschalk hadn't failed me through their arrogance.

Dr. Gottschalk examined me in March of 2019. He seemed pleasant ant interested in helping me with my severe headaches. However, he was arrogant and obviously his own biggest fan. He recommended a battery of tests which his staff were to arrange. I waited weeks and weeks for the tests to be arranged and, during all that time, I never heard any news from his staff. I had to keep calling, over and over again for updates on when the tests would be arranged. Also...Dr, Gottschalk had arranged for a scan that required contrast without asking me whether I was willing to take contrast. When I emailed him about the discrepancy, he was rude and dismissive to me - about not consulting with me, or, about his staff never following up with me. His answer was basically...."This is how I run my practice". I never heard from him or his office again. What I will credit him with is that, in the end, the initial medications he gave me mostly resolved my headaches - for which I am thankful.

I saw a local neurologist for years for what I believed to be trigeminal neuralgia He was dismissive and arrogant. When I finally got to Dr. Gottschalk, he listened thoroughly, scheduled me for a special MRI and prescribed more effective medications. I am now scheduled to see a neurosurgeon for further options. all in a few weeks.

“Gott” awful. Belittled my chronic pain - non compassionate, arrogant and very impatient.

Horrific. Nothing but invalidating of my chronic intractable migraines and decide to personally attack my mental health instead of actually helping. I do not recommend this man at all. Appointments take 6 months to see him, and a true waste of time

All I can say to these negative reviews is "Wow". Dr. Gottschalk is far from arrogant. A pill pusher? I have to laugh. He helped my Husband, who was going to the ER 3x+ a week, diagnose his Cluster Headaches & get them manageable. He actually went into remission for a time & w/ Dr. Gottschalk's blessing went off of some of the meds he was taking for the headaches. He's also helped me w/ my Migraines. Even gave us his cell & texted/consulted me when his schedule was overbooked. Great Dr.!!!
