Dr. Sckolnick is exceptional and is a true professional that knows his stuff. Going into the appointment I was super nervous about my ear however his presence is so comforting and he has great energy! He is a complete genius. I've been to other ENT professionals and they weren't able to tell me what was going on with my ear. However Dr. Sckolnick was able to let me know after a few minutes and also calmed my nerves and let me know that it was not anything serious. For months I had so much anxiety about my ear, but after talking to him and having him check on my ears, I felt i was at peace and I was healed. THANK YOU Dr.Sckolnick, you are the real MVP of all ENTs!!!!!!

Came here with water in my ear and thankfully, Dr. Sckolnick was able to get it all out. He's super friendly and made coming in worth it. He also checked both ears when I only had water in one and was able to remove some cotton remnants from using Q-tips.

I am a physician with 32 years of experience and a former Chief of Professional Staff at Mills-Peninsula Health Services. Dr. Sckolnick is one of the finest physicians I have ever encountered from a professional and personal standpoint. Very lucky to have him as my ENT and also to have him in our community.

I've seen Dr Sckolnick twice, 5 months ago for recurrent tonsil stones and possible sleep apnea and a follow-up visit a few days ago. After the initial visit, I followed all of his suggestions, took a home sleep study (which he said was negative) and waited to see if my symptoms improved. I found him to be articulate and informative. When My symptoms didn't improve and I returned to see him for a follow-up 5 months later, he was incredibly rude and dismissive of my concerns. His words of "not to belittle or dismiss your concerns, but dealing with daily tonsil stones won't prevent you from living to be 100 years, and are basically just a nuisance." He then shared the mortality and morbidity of tonsillectomies (1:20,000 deaths, loss of taste, change in voice, pain, long recovery, etc) and how he would not perform that procedure on me "because [he] wouldn't know what to do with himself if anything were to happen" due to such high risks. A few of the reasons he gave for why I should not get a tonsillectomy: insurance probably not covering the surgery (which I responded with I already assumed that), the anesthesiologist probably wouldn't agree to it knowing it's not "medically necessary" (since when do anesthesiologists have to agree for the reason of a patient undergoing a tonsillectomy?!), and stating there's not research showing adults getting tonsillectomies as a solution for chronic tonsilloliths (but a simple google search shows it is not uncommon). I understand that undergoing elective surgery is a major decision and has serious risks. I have NEVER had an experience with a medical provider that made me feel almost ashamed for seeking help like I did with Dr Sckolnick. His dismissive demeanor made me feel my concerns were insignificant. I rarely seek medical help except for annual physicals, so for me to seek a specialist to help me with something that's been negatively impacting my quality of life for the past year and trying everything I can outside of surgery to help myself without success, is a big deal. At the end of my visit, Dr Sckolnick also just stood up and left from the kiosk he was sitting at near the door. His last words were "if you're at your wit's end and still want the surgery after a few more months, I can do the surgery, but even then I'll be reluctant." Then he stood up and left. No goodbye, no closure. I sat there for a couple of minutes, not sure if we were done with the visit and he was coming back or what?Maybe he was having an extremely bad day, who knows. He's gotten fantastic reviews, but my experience with him was extremely profound. I will not be returning to see him. Ever.

Dr. Scknolnick responded to a call at the Mills Peninsula ER last Saturday, August 31. A fishbone lodged at the back of my throat during my grandson's post Bar Mitzvah luncheon. I rushed to the ER when it was evident that the bone was securely caught and a real threat. The ex ray did not reveal the bone but Dr. Scknolnick was able to use two scopes which he expertly used (with computer screen projection) and special instruments to delicately remove the bone without surgery. Had it not been for his expertise and calm approach (as well as that of the emergency staff), I would certainly have experienced much more traumatic and extended treatment. He was calm, cool, and determined. I was so very lucky to have had Dr. Sckolnick's expert attendance.

I love coming here. Yup. I like coming to my doctors appt. Why? Dr sckolnick is amazing. He is super nice and explains thing clearly. If it is something that might scar or there is an alternative treatment for he also presents it. I first came here to clean my ears. I also noticed a small bump inside my ear that was bothering me. Dr sckolnick gave me some cream as he wanted to see if that would alleviate the problem. After using the cream the cyst did not go away and he asked me if I really wanted to remove it as it was super small and I could have a scar larger than the cyst. I thought about it while I was pregnant and after I delivered I had it removed. It didn't shrink but dr sckolnick was able to cut it open and clean it out and I didn't even need a stitch due to his precision. In my follow up appt he said it healed beautifully and I don't even remember which ear he removed the cyst from. Literally there is so scar or anything! But he is also super thorough and he is also the head of the ENT for good reason. I'm a fairly easy patient just coming in for ear cleaning but so glad I had him to remove my cyst and take care of all my ENT needs. He literally is the best and makes every appt fun and easy. Even if you need just an ear cleaning like me, who knows what he may find upon examination?

I am lucky to have seen a bunch of really good doctors in the bay area. Because of that, I have high standards. Dr. Sckolnick exceeds all of my expectations. He really takes time with you and explains everything so well. I love understanding the medical/scientific explanations, and he is very patient with all of my questions. He is funny and charming (adorable too! Haha! :P) and puts me at ease. His bedside manner is simply the best I've ever experienced. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I saw Dr Sckolnick a few months ago, I just realized I never wrote a review. In this world of doctors who are either nice or are experts but often not both, Dr. Sckolnick is such a refreshing change. He obviously knows what's he's doing and talking about. Not only that, he actually spent a respectable amount of time doing several tests to get to his conclusion - very thorough. At the same time he was friendly and made his diagnosis easy to understand. Thank you, Doctor!

UNREAL. I drove 2 hours to get to our appt. that we waited a month for and was just 10 minutes late and they made us reschedule... I was so upset and exhausted I actually started crying in front of the receptionist. Something I have never done. I made this appt for our 3 year old son at this location because it was the soonest we could get with an ENT as he's had chronic ear infections for the last 6 months. I'm absolutely livid and blown away by their lack of flexibility... 10 minutes. Most of the time I sit in waiting rooms for 20- 30 minutes waiting for my appt. Screw this office. Thanks for nothing and for being so completely ridiculous about 10 F-ing minutes. I wish I could give you all 0 stars. I will never ever book an appointment here again.I should also mention that parking is atrocious. I spent 10 minutes driving around the garage looking for a place to park. People stopped in the middle of the lane for no apparent reason blocking traffic was common. You would think a hospital of this size would have ample parking. Truthfully that's what cost us our appointment.
