List of William Filchak's Reviews
Arrogant, assumptive, talks down to you. And well, me and my whole family are never going back here.
Got a same day appointment for an issue that turned out to be misdiagnosed elsewhere. Dr. Filchak took the time to make sure I knew what was going on and how to remedy it. All of the staff I interacted with were extremely pleasant. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of eyecare.
I had an eye issue. I called at 9:01 and at 9:45 I was sitting in a chair being treated. I always have a great experience with Dr Filchak. His office staff is equally as nice.
Great COVID-19 process. Easy, not involving anyone but the patients. They take your temperature and do all but the exam part over the phone. Don’t be afraid to visit!
My family and I have been patients of Dr. Filchak for 25 years. Now living in New Haven, it's worth the trip to Southbury for professional staff, caring doctor, wide selection and excellent patient care and customer service.
Dr Filchak seems to be fine, however the people who answer the phones are terrible. Several people answered the phone and they don't call you back as promised. Some of them are rude. You have to keep calling, repeat the same question, and they don't record when and why you called previously. Typos on the prescription form and still have not corrected, hence you cannot order your glasses. License # is missing on the prescription form signed by the doctor!
Such a great practice. Always the same friendly, wonderful staff. Never ever had an issue. I would recommend this office for anyone looking for a new eye doctor. The ladies who fit you for glasses are also exceptional! They go above and beyond as well to make sure that you are put into the correct frame and are happy with your choice! I love coming for my yearly visit just for the friendliness of the staff!
Excellent service and very professional.
I was extremely disappointed! Tried to get correct contact lenses for weeks No one knew what my trials were, my prescriptions were written incorrectly They failed to return numerous phone calls My go to office for years is now gone
Dr Filchak has been my eye doctor for 5 years. They were always great up until recently and they have really gone downhill. Their customer service is horrible. First of all their door is locked all the time which is great for safety purposes however I was not informed ahead of time nor was there a sign on their door stating I would need to make a phone call to come inside and perform a “covid safety check” at the door. About two months prior I called and asked if I could make an appointment to come in to have my eyeGLASS lenses replaced OUT OF THE FRAMES and they said no appointment is needed just come right in. So about a week after that I went there and at that point their door was not locked and walked in, but a staff member came running at me as if I was an intruder and asked if I had an appointment I said no and they said get out, and I tried to tell them I was told I didn’t need appointment so then she told me to get out anyway, and it was not very friendly. I finally made an appointment and like I stated I was not informed that the door would be locked I had to call to get into the building. It’s extremely disorganized. The exam went well but at the time of checkout and ordering contacts the eyewear associate was extremely rude and offensive. She tried to get me to pay more by not adjusting the insurance correctly for the glasses and contacts after repeatedly telling her I wanted a six month supply and not yearly supply of contacts. I had asked her to recalculate it but she insisted that it was less for the insurance to adjust the glasses instead of the contacts, but of course it was because she added the year of contacts instead of the six months, so finally after 5 recalculations got it down to a reasonable adjusted amount. She didn’t even ask me if I wanted the year supply she just assumed and put it on the bill and went directly to the point of sale transaction and wasn’t even going to break it down for me. I felt it was more like a sales pitch than a doctor’s appointment. Then not only that she pointed out my age after I wrote my date of birth and noticed my birthday coming up and stated yeah you’re getting old like all of us and then after struggling to put on my coat reminded me how “ old “ I’m getting there but I am not even middle age yet, but as a woman approaching middle age it does get to be a sensitive topic and to point it out many times. Wow! It was extremely demeaning and insulting the way it was worded as well. Very unprofessional and was targeted at me to be an insult. She used my age to try and devalue me as a person and in a discriminatory way. I will never go back there again even though I have been a faithful patient for 5 years.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
