I had a spinal fusion with Dr. Mc Anany and he left me permanently handicap. I can no longer walk more than a clock, I can not drive or work and have had to have several surgeries and procedures since just to keep me comfortable My life has been ripped out from under me but they paid for my physical therapy, someone felt responsible for the condition that I was left in. Do the research on your doctors before choosing, your life depends on it.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Despite guaranteeing my quality of life will improve after back fusion surgery, I have been left permanently handicapped due to making some poor decisions. Doctor error was confirmed by three other highly qualified doctors of equal status. As it turns out I am not the only patient he has left with permanent consequences. THINK LONG AND DO YOUR RESEARCH BECAUSE THIS COULD HAPPEN TO YOU

After much consideration selected Dr. Steven McAnany from HSS for my back fusion. After surgery, I was left permanently handicapped with bi-lateral drop foot. I fully understand that there are always risks with surgery, but after meeting with many surgeons of equal status I have been advised the surgery should have been stopped when he ran into complications. After weeks in Stamford Hospital then Gaylord Hospital where I spent another 6 weeks, I was unable to walk, spending several months in a wheelchair, then to a walker. Three years later, many surgeries, procedures, (one surgery was this past May, I will spend until October, unable to weight bare and hopefully then I can start PT) and endless PT, I am able to walk small distances with a brace. SO much more has been taken from me. I’m left on a unlivable fixed disability income, I am a burden to my family and friends who I depend on for so much. The cost has been high physically, emotionally, mentally, financially and spiritually.

After having a back fusion with Dr. McAnany I was left permanently handicap with bilateral drop foot. I am well aware that there are risks with every surgery but after reviewing my operative report with other ortho surgeons of the same status it was unanimous that the surgery should have stopped with the complications that he ran into. Be careful, read all reviews and do as much research and ask as many questions as possible because this too can happen to you

Had spinal fusion surgery 8 months ago and never recovered. I am still in pain and a second opinion told me my screws are loose. Dr.McAnany did not even bother to check me out throughly on my first visit after surgery and never even got back to me with a phone call the day after my surgery after I was discharged. As a result of his botched surgery I suffered stress, anxiety, depression and finally my lively hood. His office manager was always rude and short over the phone. I would hate this to be any patient's experience.

Had spinal fusion almost two years ago with him. I am now worse then ever. I finally went to another doctor who said the screws were loose in my back. He has an extremely rude condescending secretary working for him who thinks she's the boss. Telling me I just can't randomly call his office!!!!! Think twice before calling this guy. Plus I was told I would be in the hospital no more then 2 days I ended up being in the hospital 1 week and then another week in a waste of time rehab.

He was awesome! I had a ruptured disk and he performed the procedure and got me back to where I can run and ski like I did before the my accident. It takes a while to realize the outcome, but getting up and walking a few weeks after the surgery and exercising after the 6 weeks is key to get mobility back.

Dr McAnany, his staff and the entire team at HSS hospital in Stamford went over and above anything I could have ever expected. Top to bottom brilliant care. I had spinal surgery and am one day out and already feel like a new person. Highly recommend HSS Stamford and Dr McAnany for any neck issues. Everyone beyond fantastic!

From the moment I called the office and spoke to Holly, the most caring, professional office manager to meeting Brooke, the PA and Dr. McAnany, I knew I was in the best of hands. Everything Dr. McAnany explained to me about my condition, surgery and recovery has been accurate. I am 3 months post micro-discectomy and I feel amazing. They never hesitate to answer a phone call or an email. I am an RN coming from Nassau County, NY and have access to great surgeons; I chose him. Dr. McAnany is the best of the best!!
