List of Richard C. Hsu's Reviews
The few negative reviews I’ve been reading are puzzling to me, because when I had surgery in 2012 by Dr. Hsu for an occluded carotid artery he was so skilled and knowledgeable and so meticulous in following up post surgery that here I am 11 years later and my carotid artery remains clear and without problems. His staff was always pleasant, as was Dr. Hsu. I had my carotid surgery at Danbury Hospital, and Dr. Hsu saw me in follow up for several months after surgery to ensure that I had no post surgery complications. He was truly nice, a good communicator, pleasant to talk with, and an exceptionally skilled vascular surgeon. The negative reviews are baffling to me since my surgical care by Dr. Hsu was A+++.
Horrible - From the beginning, I felt so comfortable with Dr.Hsu - things took a huge turn after my surgery. I put all of my trust into his hands after looking up research and reviews - after my surgery, my symptoms have gotten so much worse, and the lack of care from him and the staff has been disgusting. I was mocked on the phone asking why my symptoms were getting worse and not going away with my nausea and vomiting daily post surgery - i have been in the ER since the surgery more than once, and I currently am 6 months out - I still am vomiting weekly, if not daily and in constant pain daily with no relief. I will never recommend this doctor or this office to anyone - this surgery was a serious one, and the aftercare, or lack there of, is not okay.

Dr. Hsu is extremely good at what he does although his office staff is totally incompetent when trying and failing to send an order for scans Anywhere!
Dr.Hsu listened to me after multiple drs told me I did not have MALS. He is kind and you can tell he really cares about his patients. Tim (his PA) is amazing and does great post op care. Susan, his NP, is experienced and listens too. I would not have trusted anyone else with my MALS surgery. The team at Stamford is amazing, too. I was his MALS surgery #525. He is very blunt and says it as it is, but is kind and wants to see his patients thrive again. He also answers lots of questions. There is even a Facebook group for his MALS patients.
One of the most caring, patient and knowledgeable doctor in his field. I had surgery with him 8/2018. He saved my life Thank you Dr Hsu and Tim
I have been under his care for a year for lymphedema. He is very smart and does not waste time.
I had surgery with Dr Hsu over a year ago. He was kind and compassionate throughout all of my treatments. I began to be ill again 8 months post op and contacted him and had follow up appointments with him. He diagnosed a new and even rarer condition and pointed me in the right direction to get treatment. I had tried other drs and was dismissed. He listened and cared and he looked at new scans. He follows up if you follow up with him in the appropriate manner. I highly recommended him.
After going to vascular Dr’s at Danbury and Yale who told me just to keep walking, Knowing my left femoral was totally blocked and my right femoral was partially blocked. At that point those Dr.’s wanted to do bypass surgery . That would have been the final treatment for them. Dr. Hsu reviewed the tests plus did his own and proposed drilling out the arteries 1 leg every 2-4 weeks. God bless Dr. Hsu, he stented the arteries with great results. A year plus now, testing every so many months Dr. Hsu is extremely happy that my femoral’s have great blood flow. I totally recommend Dr. Hsu who will do his utmost for his patient’s. J.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
