Hartford Healthcare Medical Group Primary Care's Online Review Report Card

Whatever you do, DO NOT USE ANY HARTFORD HEALTHCARE ASSOCIATED SERVICES. The doctors are all real and everyone who will see you in person is great, but the actual company tries to scam you and milk you for money. I went in for a minor health issue and a follow up. Both times were perfectly fine, the doctor was knowledgeable, reception was friendly. Both times I paid my bill right then and there. I don't have insurance, so I quadruple checked each time with the receptionist on how much everything would cost. Having paid in full, I assumed I was settled up. A month later I get an email claiming that I'm past due on a bill and that this was my final notice. The problem was, I never even got a FIRST notice. I log in assuming it was just a minor mistake on their part, but I come to find out that they're claiming I owe 400 dollars for a "minor surgery". Keep in mind, the doctor never even TOUCHED ME let alone did anything that could ever be described as "surgical". So I call up to explain that they've made a mistake in billing and that the visit I was being charged for consisted of me telling the doctor I felt fine and then leaving. The person on the phone wouldn't have it though. "It doesn't matter, you still owe us that money". No matter what I said, I'd get cut off with the standard "You still owe". Basically, it's a double dipping scam. You go in, are told one price, pay it, and then when you leave the larger company makes up some stuff to charge you for, assuming you won't question it, and if you do, they tell you they're going to send you to collections, meaning your credit score gets ruined. Again, I don't think the doctors are involved in the scam, but the larger company absolutely is. Learn from my mistake, you're better off just going with a small practice, just make 100% sure that they aren't associated with Hartford Healthcare otherwise you WILL get scammed.

I need to find a new primary care practice that runs timely. My appointments never start on time. There’s usually a 10-12 week wait to get an appointment. You can never see them for a sick visit; you’re always referred to urgent care which is more money out of my pocket. The doctors/providers themselves are great and provide wonderful care but my time is also valuable. If i have a 4:00 appointment and I’m not seen until 4:30, that’s not valuing me as a patient or my time.

I have always been happy with my care from Dr. Aboulian, who is compassionate and dedicated. But trying to get in touch with *anyone* via the phone is infuriating. Last night, I called to alert my doctor to an adverse reaction from my medication; it was after hours, but they said they would leave a message with the on-call nurse who would call me back later. Never received any call all night. Today, I missed a call from my actual doctor; I tried to call back, was placed on hold for 10 minutes and then told she was in with a patient and would call later. Two hours later, I missed her call by just 3 minutes and attempted to call back right away to catch her before the end of her day--I was again placed on hold for 10 minutes, connected with someone who said they had no record I had been called, and if I'd like to leave a note. Confused, I asked if the doctor was still at the office or had left already; the person on the phone told me that she *couldn't tell me if the doctor was in* because it violates HIPAA. I have literally never heard of such a thing. I explained that I had spoken to someone earlier that freely told me Dr. Aboulian was in the office, and this person offered a confusing answer that suggested I was not, in fact, connected with the actual Wallingford office, but with some other call center, and that she couldn't answer for how "the other office" had handled my call. Can you see how deeply frustrating and confusing this is? I'm truly sorry to leave this negative review, but it is ridiculous that it is this difficult to get in touch with my PCP, especially just to answer a simple question. I shouldn't be playing phone tag for hours, getting connected to random, unknown offices with conflicting phone policies. Seriously considering switching doctors because of this.

On October 19th of this year I first met Dr Colleen Sherkow my new primary care provider. I was pleasantly surprised I liked her professionalism kindness and compassion. It was a big change from Tracy LaRue APRN. , Who was unprofessional and rude. I'm very happy with my new PCP thank you.
