Was the best thing i ever did..Had 2 hips replaced and had almost no pain at all. Was walking with a cane in 26 hours and no cane in 5 days.. AMAZING
Doc Amy was awesome from my first appointment to surgery day. My left hip replacement went smoothly and she is very easy to talk to. I have already referred some friends to her practice.
I had total knee replacement surgery on 10/7/21 and I’m still in pain, knee is swollen, very difficult to walk despite going to the gym 2-3 nights a week. I’m thinking something is just not right here. 6 months in and I should be fully recovered.
Dr. Wasterlain is very caring and very skilled. She is also a brilliant surgeon. I had 9 years of pain and infection in my knee. Dr. Wasterlain replaced my knee joint three months ago with no complications. I feel better than I have in 10 years.
Dr. Wasterlain did an amazing job on my hip replacement from start to finish. I can’t say enough about how well the entire process went including the surgery at The Orthopedic Institute at Midstate. Just to put everything in perspective, Dr. Wasterlain is thorough, caring, detail-oriented & confident. As for results, yes, I had some modest discomfort after the operation for about 2 weeks. I was able to walk without assistance of any kind almost immediately& the icing on the cake was getting on the tennis court after just 19 days & hitting for about an hour! I didn’t chase hard after any balls, but I was able to maneuver surprisingly well and move comfortably for shots within a few modest steps. I hope to be back playing competitively about 4 weeks after surgery. What a testament to Dr. Waterlain’s ability. My PCP saw the scar yesterday and said it looked great, as an unbiased 3rd party, and won’t leave much of a mark. All in all, I couldn’t be more pleased! Dr. Wasterlain is fabulous!
I would like to update my last review of Dr Wasterlain, from July of 2020. I was very mad at this doctor for not providing in-home physical therapy after my knee surgery, and because I was in a lot of pain, I gave her a bad review. Since that time, Dr Wasterlain has apologized to me profusely, and corrected the situation. She tells me that she no longer sends patients home without a physical therapy prescription, unless the patient declines the service. Most importantly: my knee feels “as good as new,” and I owe that to Dr Wasterlain! She really is an excellent surgeon, and it is good to know she listens to patient concerns. My other knee is now giving me pain, and I have returned to her for treatment.
"From my first appt with Dr Amy W, my husband and I knew we were in the right place. Not your typical surgical consult! First, her friendliness and openess quickly put us at ease. As she studied the history and MRI of the knee in need of a revision, she was honest and forthcoming. She explained everthing in a way that was clear and easy to understand re: the seriousness of the situation, the risks and possible complications of the repair. She encouraged whatever questions or concerns we had throughout the pre and postop process and addressed each thoroughly. She made herself available anytime for any immediate needs or concerns, which made me feel secure and free to contact her if needed, which was a privilege I would make sure not to abuse. As far as the surgery, I felt confident I was in the best possible hands and I was not disappointed. Her diligence, perfectionism, her choice of the perfect OR team resulted a perfect outcome. My knee is on it's way to normal. Scale 1-10=12." - DC,
I am a 45 year old Licensed Massage Therapist. I had been dealing with severe hip pain for the last 6 years. Over these years I have had at least 2 physicians who wouldn’t take me seriously enough because in their eyes I was much to young for a hip replacement and 2 referrals to Orthopedists who wouldn’t even see me because of insurance. I had given up hope when I was finally referred to Dr. Amy Wasterlain, who took one look at me and told me that I needed a total hip replacement via anterior approach. 2 weeks later I was in surgery at 8am, walking by 12pm, passed my PT testing by 2:30 and home by 6pm. It has been exactly 3 weeks now since my surgery and I have been walking without a cane for a week and a half, I am able to drive short distances now, and aside from some minor discomfort and being tired from the healing process I am amazed at how great I feel. The pain and instability that consumed my life for the last 6 years is GONE. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been connected
I have been so very pleased with Dr. Wasterlain's care. She has been direct, informative, and clear about my orthopedic issues and care. She has also been very responsive to my questions, which typically are many! I would highly recommend her.
Dr. Wasterlain is hands down the finest orthopedist I’ve seen. As a serious jogger and Marathon runner, I’ve had my share of broken ankles. But the one she recently treated was a simple slip and fall when my dog pulled me down on ice. Ouch! I called Dr. Amy and she was so concerned she met me in the urgent care center. She accompanied me to X-ray, carefully and diligently explained every detail she saw, carefully tended my wounds, then set me up for next steps. All the while, she was so empathic and concerned. And the next day, she followed up in person to see how I was doing! So talented and smart but also a really nice good person. Love her. The best.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
