At every step of my post-surgery recovery, Dr. Adelson failed to give me even basic information or care. I left surgery without a RX for pain medication, because he "hoped" I wouldn't need it. Clue - "hope" is NOT a medical plan. So hours after my surgery - after the anesthesia wore off and the pain rapidly increased - I had to made calls to him and pharmacy to get medicine I should have gone home with. He NEVER discussed post surgical symptoms. Every time I got a new symptom, I would have to call him to find out what was happening: why was I still in pain after a week, why was my eye draining two weeks later. NEVER discussed it. Just went in for a follow up and after telling him my dissatisfaction with his failure to communicate, he tells me to lean back so he can put these drops in my eyes. What will this drops do? What are they for? Oh, he won't tell you unless you ask. FAILURE TO COMMUNICATE at every step of the way.

He is a very good doctor but if you have Aetna, don’t go to him. They say they participate in Aetna but Aetna says otherwise. Contact Aetna, not the doctor to confirm

I have been a patient of Dr. Adelson's for over 20 years. He is an extremely competent doctor and has performed several operations on my eyes. I suffered with glaucoma for several years but do not have to take drops now due to his successful operations. My eye pressure is below average in each eye thanks for Dr. Adelson

I called to reschedule my appointment with Dr. Adelson. Don't get me wrong, he is one of the best doctors in Washington, DC. However, the problem lies on the staff. First call I did today 8/31, the reception put me on hold for 7 mins.; I called back then again on hold for 15 mins., someone picked up the phone and hang up. Again I called, then got a voice mail saying the Office is CLOSED and to call back the next business day. I just don't believe it!!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Adelsons for about 20 years. I have MS and periodic bouts of optic nueritis and have had bouts of iritis. I have things that cannot be corrected. He also has saved me money by recommending reading glasses for me and my husband before prescriptions were absolutely necessary. He has also treated my teenage daughter. He did fabulous surgery on my husband to remove a yellowish bump on the white of his eye, which was some kind of callous from debris getting in his eye. Occasionally I wait a little and like the below reader if I schedule first thing in the am usually not. I would rather wait 30 minutes for a doctor who has worked in an emergency (like he has for me) than to go to a lessor grade doctor
