Friendly, but incredibly poor communication skills. Total lack of knowledge about nutrition, quality of life, or anything other than prescribing diuretics for liver disease. Will ABSOLUTELY bamboozle his way through things he’s not sure about, rather than referring to someone with more skill or admitting that he doesn’t know something. Makes assumptions about people based on race, perceived class, or weight & enforces systemic racial bias. Does not respect the intelligence of patients or caregivers, and will ignore questions which make him uncomfortable or that he can’t answer. Will ignore living donor offers. Will delay, deny, withhold appropriate care or simply ignore patients for capricious reasons known only to him. An exceptionally dangerous man, as he exudes confidence which he cannot back up with good judgment.

Dr. Thomas is a terrible choice for hepatology. He is totally uneducated about the nutritional support needed to improve long term survival, and is “too busy” to follow up with the patients he shuffles off to the Emergency Department. Dr.Thomas’s lack of experience and poor judgment are only rivaled by his lack of empathy, classism and racism. Patronize this man at your own peril!

My husband had a consult with Dr. Thomas a few days ago. We have been dealing with doctors for the past 40 years; Dr. Thomas is definitely one of the very best we have met. Dr. Thomas reviewed my husbands entire medical history; updated his information, made corrections as necessary. He spent at least one full hour with us...did not rush us at all. In addition to being a thorough professional, he took a very personal interest in my husbands medical issues. He was very easy to communicate with. He ordered blood work on the date of our visit. Soon thereafter, he, himself, called with the results. How many doctors do that? He deserves 5 stars..PLUS!
