David Jacobs's Online Review Report Card

Looks like my story is similar to other on here, hence my wanting to rate this doctor. Scared me into more tests by unnecessarily worrying me and my family. All for nothing except for more money of course.

Dr. Jacobs is compassionate, caring, very thorough in his explanations. He was my daughter’s doctor at the Reston Hospital Emergency Room and she could not have had a better doctor. He explained everything clearly, answered all questions, and seemed to really care about my daughter’s issues. Consulted with another doctor when needed and made sure we had all the information we needed to move forward with my daughter’s care.

What a horrible man. The other reviewers have said it before me: arrogant, greedy, prickly. I was a patient until he "fired" me for questioning one of the ridiculously unnecessary tests he wanted me to have. He also gossips about other patients by name. Horrible man. Lousy doctor.

Lots of tests, very little listening, jumps to conclusions about who you are as a person, dictatorial, told me he thought his "nag" letter to me "was brilliant" when I told him (trying to be polite) that "the letter reflected that he didn't know me very well" after 2 -- one very brief and one excessively long visit. I've had outstanding doctors in my life (now all retired) who saved my life with great diagnoses based on true listening and minimal tests, and the old fashioned way, by touching the body. Clearly was not comfortable with the physical exam; does not do his own breast exams. Not clear he actually likes people, although he is quick to tell you how caring he is. Very ineffective unless you like being ordered around like a recalcitrant child. He is perfectly willing to keep your funds, even though he reserves the right to unilaterally "fire" you. Where is the medical association -- the pattern is abusive.

Great doctor, very thorough, very interested in his patients, always spends between 15 and 30 minutes with me. The downside is that he loves running tests (either have good insurance or be rich), and sometimes I have waited 45 minutes to see him even when I arrived on time. He also has a bit of a tough personality (i.e. he has a big ego), so don't take it personally. Oh and his staff is wonderful, you walk through the door and they know you by your first name.

Dr. Jacobs is great. A passionate and caring professional, he is also very humorous. His staff are attentive and responsive and they make every effort to provide comfort during your visit.

Claims on "helping" my mother but ultimately just wants to charge an arm and a leg for pointless tests and useless weekly appointments. Threatened to drop me as a patient because I couldn't make a few because of work. Appareantly reading the other reviews that is weapon of madness. Do yourself a favor and stay away. Does more to your wallet than the actual patient.

My husband and I were patients of Dr. Jacobs. He was extremely thorough, but at times was tediously so. My husband had a physical and got a 10 page letter back with many, many referrals to a multitude of specialists. This for a perfectly healthy, active man in his early forties who was not feeling ill at all. Dr. Jacobs became very frustrated that my husband did not follow up on all the tests and asked BOTH of us to find another doctor (even although I had been his patient for over a decade). Apparently he didn't view me as a patient in my own right, but rather as part of a package deal whose care was reliant on my husbands responsiveness. Although he is very knowledgeable, he can be unbending and arrogant at times and he is very expensive so you end up paying quite a lot for amounts disallowed by insurance.

Dr. J and his staff are the best. He really cares about each one of his patients. As noted in earlier review, expect to take lots and lots of tests, especially with your initial visits. The staff cheerfully offer to set up appointments for you. Dr. J has a strong personality so I can see what it would turn some people off, but I really believe he has my best interest at heart. You should expect to pay slightly more but you get a much higher level of service.
