Dominique E. Howard's Online Review Report Card

The good reviews seen here are shocking. I have met with her countless times and tried many different treatments with her and every time I see her its as if she forgets every detail of who I am completely. I am experiencing daily issues that impact my daily life greatly and she implies that I am making up my pain and symptoms. She has pawned off some of my visits to other providers in the office and upon seeing her again afterward, she has gotten upset with them for providing me with new potential solutions and suggestions for my issues (issues she has not improved in over 3 years I have been seeing her).

Oh my! 'll learn from others experiences. I don't do rude, especially when spending my money for services.

Dr. Howard may have a stellar professional bio but I would not recommend her to someone trying to resolve GI issues that affect their day-to-day quality of life. She is quick to recommend expensive diagnostic procedures but not in the least interested in hearing from the patient about symptoms, nor following up on said procedures. I waited over two weeks (with multiple calls to her office) to get a chance to speak with her after my upper endoscopy, without success. I quickly found a more sympathetic but equally qualified GI specialist.

I scheduled an appointment in October 2022 to see Dr. Howard. The earliest available was January 19 2023, the day before my appointment the office called and canceled. Telling me I can reschedule for her next available in April 2023. This office is completely unprofessional. I have to wait 6 months to be seen. I could have been seen months earlier by another provider, but I thought I’d wait to be seen by a Black woman. Big mistake. From now on I’ll go with the best provider who is respects my time.

Excellent doctor and wonderful staff. I've been a patient for over 20 years, and the doctor's expertise is boundless. She displays compassion, listens to her patients carefully, while providing good advice for your concerns and your overall health. When I need appointments scheduled, have questions about insurance and other procedures, the staff has been highly responsive. Thank you, Dr. Howard and the staff.

I’m sure my hopes were much too high after waiting several months for my first appointment with Dr. Howard. I experienced her as abrupt and not at all welcoming. I was referred to her by my primary care physician after I’d already seen a colorectal surgeon. Dr. Howard suggested I shouldn’t be seeing her at all and wanted to know if the surgeon had talked to me about surgery. (He did not recommend it at this time.) She made a point of describing the worst case scenario and reminded me —twice— to go to the ER if symptoms worsen. Office staff were all friendly and helpful but I plan on finding another gastroenterologist who isn’t an alarmist.

Excellent Doctor and superb staff. Along with her expertise in her field, Dr. Howard provides compassion to her patients. She asks thorough questions while kindly responding/listening to your concerns. In addition, she provides advice regarding your overall health. I've always had a good interaction with her staff, especially when scheduling appointments, insurance information. I've been a patient for over 20 years and am grateful to be a patient.

Dr. Dominique Howard is a trusted professional, efficient in her service, gentle in her approach, listens well to your concerns and is extremely attentive. All processes associated with my care through Dr. Howard have been seamless. As well, the office staff are friendly and kind (even when patients are curt). I highly recommend Dr. Dominique Howard for your care.

Walking into Dr. Howard’s office I felt well cared for. Dr. Howard listened and took good notes and gave a course of action that will cover all the bases, but with some flexibility as we get the information, which I appreciated. When we were done, Sha-Keea was extremely helpful and very kind as she walked me through billing and next steps. Definitely a pleasurable experience!!

Like the previous reviewer, I agree she has very poor bedside manner. Arrogant and dismissive of my symptoms and initially failed to order the appropriate tests/workup. She also does not seem to be up to date in terms of the latest treatments. She made errors during my colonoscopy and then tried to blame her staff. I ended up switching to another doctor in Capital digestive care (Dr. Humm) and found him to be much more caring, knowledgeable, and professional.
