List of Joshua M. Ammerman's Reviews
Dr. Josh Ammerman is an exceptional neurosurgeon. He is personable, professional, and not the kind of surgeon whose knee-jerk reaction is to head for the knife. He instead offers sound advice on how to avoid surgery until entirely necessary. Ultimately, I needed a laminectomy and fusion which he performed with a minimally invasive procedure, thus limiting my recover to under two weeks, followed by ...
I used Dr. Ammerman for lumbar spinal fusion surgery. His consultations, advice, and surgery were outstanding. He has a well-earned reputation of being one of the best neurosurgeons in the area. He is very smart, quick, thoughtful, and responsive. He is also very patient in explaining every facet of what he is doing.
I found Dr. Ammerman to be knowledgeable and informative but rushed. Despite indicating that my problem was spondylolisthesis he told me he would not operate because the severity grade of my condition was not "bad enough". He recommended I change my lifestyle and not pick up my infant grandchildren. I thought doctors treated symptoms, especially in an area of the body where there is wide disparity of symptoms associated with certain conditions. Would not go back to this doctor
this man is god's gift to humanity: nobody (no doctor (with apologies to Galan)) on earth is better than this man. He will solve your problem(s) with the least amount of pain or misery
I was sent to Dr Ammerman to treat cervical spinal stenosis. He absorbed and remembered everything wevdiscuss d, Is direct, explains medical conditions in plain speech avoiding medicalese, is thorough in follow-up, is reassuring and positive, is confident about his conclusions but willing to consider alternatives and is a decent human being - totally trustworthy and highly regarded by the nursing personnel with whom he works. Who could ask for anything more? He is Chief of Surgery at Sibley Hospital, a deserved position.
This doctor is an insurance paid/bought doctor. I wouldn't recommend to my worse enemy.
Excellent results Had laminectomy and fusion. Felt great in about a week and only reason I limited my activities was because he told me I had to otherwise I would have never known. Every other doctor told me I would be down for 6 months to 1 year.
Dr. Ammerman is a knowledgeable and experienced surgeon. His manner and willingness to explain procedures inspire inspire confidence in his patients. If I ever need surgery again he will be my first choice even though he is not close to where I live.
All I'm going to say is this - read what the workers comp person said.
I have had surgery by Dr. A for a slipped spinal bone. Spent an amazing amount of time with me before surgery and was available after surgery. Very sincere. The only problem was that it took me a long time to get a first appointment; but I guess that is what you would expect for a doc that's in such high demand.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
