I'd like to thank the admin, nurses/aids, and doctors for their service in the Emergency Department this morning. As an ex-nurse, 22 years in the Military and a few more in the civilian sector, I dislike having to attend and usually try to avoid hospitals. Thanks for spending your time looking after me and sending on my way following such thorough treatment.

I had an excellent Surgeon! It was a pain free procedure. I had excellent Registered Nurses! The Medical Team took very good care of me. I was admitted post op for a couple of nights for observation. However, the conditions were abysmal. No one bathed me. The food made me nauseous and constipated. The bedroom was totally unacceptable. I could not believe that it was really Georgetown University Hospital. What an old, dirty, dingy and depressing place. The shared bedroom was too small. Visitors to my neighbor would accidentally bump into my bed and jostle me. I requested a private room but there was none available. The bathroom was dirty. I asked for it to be cleaned. No one ever came to sanitize it. The toilet paper was industrial with no perforations. It had to be yanked off the roll. There were no paper toilet seat covers in the container. Liquid soap and paper towels were sufficient. The young “Techs” (Physicians’ Assistant Students) had kind hearts and good intentions. They did not have the professional experience of the Registered Nurses. The Charge Nurse was overwhelmed. She left me alone in the bathroom despite the fact that I was tagged for faints and falls. They seemed short staffed on the weekend. It was pure chaos. Everyone was rushing around in circles. I was relieved to finally be discharged. My experience was like the book and film: “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”. People were screaming. I thought that I would go crazy in there. My recovery at home has been okay. I am healing nicely. I am getting a bit stronger every day. I am regaining my appetite. I have already visited my Primary Care Physician. I will visit my Surgeon soon. My advice to any prospective Medstar patients would be to search for a better hospital like Johns Hopkins, Sloan Kettering or University of Pittsburgh. Medstar GU will probably have improvements once the new hospital is ready. Today it is inadequate and below standards.

Very short wait to see the doctor. Very efficient nurse took vitals. Dr. Ayub is the best! Had lab work done with no waiting. Overall, a very efficient and professional medical office.
