Ritu Bahl Shrotriya's Online Review Report Card

I have seen Dr Shrotriya for a few years and originally, she was a thoughtful, responsive, caring and capable doctor. Over the last year she has distanced herself from providing care and takes offense that some other doctors for my myriad of serious health concerns are not with Medstar. She no longer listens or helps even when there is a serious finding on an MRI. The MedStar system is very difficult to work within for both patients and doctors and is so desperate to keep people they will keep even those that should be let go. Making it worse for everyone that remains and perpetuating the madness.

I initially Saw Dr. Shroytria’s resident, who was very nice, i expressed to The resident i was experiencing excessive anxiety and the reasons for the anxiety. I explained to him that I hadn’t slept more than 3-4 hours in a little over two months due to obsessive and intrusive thoughts. I expressed that I was so very tired and i couldn’t function! He suggested an SSRI, which was fine, but I expressed, through tears, that I need something now. The SSRI doesn’t work for about 4-6 weeks and I’m suffering now. He told me that he’d write it up and ask his attending, Dr. Shrotriya, wanted to come in and say “hi.” Dr. She was polite, but didn't take my mental health concern seriously . She doubled down on the SSRI med and told me to read a book about Insomnia as well as get up and wash dishes late at night when I was experiencing obsessive thoughts. This is out of her depth and insensitive. They didn't address my immediate issue at all. I'm sad and I left feeling worse than when I got there.

Dr. Shrotriya served as my primary care physician while I lived in Washington D.C. and delivered exceptional service. She has a lovely bedside manner and was a pleasure to have as a doctor. While it is difficult to get an appointment if you are a new patient, if she is your PCP, scheduling is much easier.

Dr. Shrotriya is a caring physician. She listens and cares about her patients. I was surprised to get an email from her asking about a procedure went and even calling other offices when she referred me to other doctors. Even though I have to live outside of NYC for work, I still keep her as my physician and see her when I am in town.

I think she's great I the office staff is like any other staff kind of rude and short but the doctor is really caring and young and knowledgeable I would definitely recommend her to my friends and family
