We went to the ER department and when I was inside, I kept hearing a nurse yelling at her patients loudly and rudely like she is the boss. I really feel bad for those patients who had to go through her attitude, whoever were treated by her were definitely in pain and shouldn't have to be treated like that, we have to pay expensive fee or insurance to get help here, and she is not doing it for free either! We invest time to drive all the way, wait a long time to be seen, pay all the fees, so no one needs that attitude. The nurse acted like she is doing some kind of charity for everyone there, she is definitely the boss. I can tell she also yells at other people including front desk sometimes, I was very intimidated so I didn't dare to ask her anything, instead, I just had to wait for extra unlimited longer time, in pain. She was very loud and telling the patients off. I was shocked that patients actually had to beg the nurse to come in to help. I am very disappointed from this experience. Oh I suggest you to learn some nursing skills if you choose to go to this ER --Sibley. Such as how to adjust IV, how to discharge your IV, how to adjust those hospitals beds, how to check your temp by using their equipment because you might need it. No one will come to your room after the doctor, can't rely on the nurse.
I went there at 10pm last night and the wait time to see any doctor was past 5 hours. A shame to even call this an emergency room.
5 hour wait. Just left. Don’t come here unless you have time to kill in the waiting room
This review is for the care I received in the ER. I was told by virtual doctor to call 911 or go to the nearest ER with a hypertensive crisis. I didn't really want to go because I was COVID + and went because I was in a life threatening emergency. I told the triage nurse (who didn't even evaluate me for over 30 min) I had chest tightness, blurry vision, pain in my jaw and left arm/shoulder with a headache that was excruciating 8/10 pain scale. I sat in the waiting room for OVER 3 HOURS crying in pain from my headache/blood pressure! COVID POSITIVE mind you!! My pain continued to escalate to 8-9/10 then given Tylenol 3! I had a IV in my arm mind you. I requested this medication via IV for 1. I was in excruciating pain for HOURS and just wanted relief 2. I had a gastric sleeve with medication that makes me have delayed gastric emptying (which affects medication absorption) 3. As a patient right, I'm entitled to adequate pain control - which I was NOT promptly given OR addressed professionally. 4. Was told that the provider doesn't give narcotic pain medications (despite my pain 8-9/10 and systolic in 100-110s???), then later when I told her 30 min later the Tylenol 3 wasn't touching my pain!! She finally gave me morphine THROUGH MY IV an hour later!!! Which FINALLY relieved my pain to 5-6/10 I have history in my chart of cardiac issues that makes this even more concerning that I wasn't given appropriate medical treatment that was in a timely manner, this treatment I received was unprofessional and dangerous!
Recently, I had two experiences with Sibley Hospital: one was preparation for surgery and a surgical procedure, and the other, was bringing my father after he received subpar care at another medical facility. Both times, I was extremely impressed with the care: the facilities, the procedues, the nurses, the overall comfort of the room. My room was so quiet and comfortable that I could actually begin to recover in peace. I did not feel the need to rush from the hospital because I did indeed felt like I have privacy and dignity while I recovered in those first few days. I was extremely comfortable which started my road to recovery on a strong start. Sibley will be my go-to from here on.
Sibley's ER is the worst, in terms of wait times. I'm sitting here with my parents in hopes of getting results from an EKG taken over 4 hours ago. Used the MyChart system to access the other results, as the receptionist recommended. But to sit here just to have someone go over the results with us--not even seeking a room assignment at this point--is frustrating and disheartening. I once worked here eons ago, I can say that the service has gone down the tubes. I'd rather take my chances, moving forward, with Washington Hospital Center.
This would have been a 5/5 review if it weren’t for an incredibly rude nurse by the name of Leslie Lundy. I went to the ER and was worked up right away from there. My radiology tech was fantastic but things went down hill from there. We waited hours in a room and absolutely no one checked in on us. When I asked someone for an update, a nurse, by the name Leslie Lundy, was incredibly rude and unhelpful. In sharp contrast, the two doctors that spoke to us were kind and thorough. Both doctors were ready to send us away but nurse Leslie Lundy was tasked to take out my IV. She did not come. After sometime I walked up to ask her for my IV to be taken out. Again, Leslie Lundy couldn’t help but be rude and dismissive. At this point my dogs have been home alone for over 12 hours. It’s past 9pm and I am still waiting for Leslie Lundy do to anything but sit at her desk with a bad attitude. This was a tough day for us. Leslie Lundy, you seem like a rotten person. We also noticed how are you turned over your ID badge so we wouldn’t catch your name. You also refused to tell us your name when we asked you for it. Shady. Your coworker was happy to share it with us though. You and I both know that you do not belong in the healthcare field. Please do everyone a favor and spare other patients from your maladaptive personality.
Amazing hospital and quality of care. Yes the way finding, signage, and sort of what to expect are tricky. But this hospital has the best quality of care, cleanliness of facilities, and best experience in DC.
I expected a lot more from this hospital. I worked at the Baltimore campus. This is NOT the Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, the name is the same, but I don't think my father would have had the experience he had at Sibley at the main campus in Baltimore. It felt like the doctors here were essentially telling my father to give up; they did not end up helping him. We ended up having to take him to Georgetown Hospital. I wish we would have gone to Georgetown first! They actually tried to help him, they explained everything to us, we had several specialties seeing him, and they made him comfortable. At Sibley I had to beg and I mean beg and plead with the staff for a specialist to see him. It felt like I was the only one fighting for my old man, because they had already given up on him.
Emergency room is a trap! Spent 4 hours only to leave and go home without any information on my labs! Oh yeah my blood was drawn when seen by triage 5 minutes after check in. The excuse is no room/beds. Who needs that. If my issues wasn't that serious send a nurse at least to tell me what the labs say!! I will never again.

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
