List of Vivek Jain's Reviews
Dr. Jain showed genuine concern for my well-being and asked for updates on my treatment even after I moved to another city and switched to a local pulmonologist.
I hardly ever write reviews on doctors but with Dr. Jain I felt compelled to do so. I was a patient of his for several years and I can say that he was very interested in maximizing the number of physical visits but not very interested in my concerns and questions. I recently began seeing a different doctor and it was like night and day. In a single visit, the other person was able to help me, answer my question, and advance my therapy to the next level in a way that Dr. Jain was not able to (or perhaps interested in) in years. If you consider seeing Dr. Jain, I would strongly advise to consider other options first. There seems to be very little oversight in GWU such that Dr. Jain gets away with the way he treats his patients.
He is sometimes very rude and unprofessional.
Have spent the last hour trying to make an appointment with Dr. Jain. Called 5 different numbers (no one could transfer me for some reason), was hung up on twice, was told he doesn't do sleep disorders (which he does), and finally, that his first appointment is in June (2 months away). I give up. They desperately need a new system for reaching doctors' offices at GW!! So inefficient and cumbersome to make one appointment! Arrrggghhhh
Dr. Jain tells you to schedule an appointment once a year to review sleep apnea protocol and there are never available appointments. Today I was told that he isn't taking appointments right now and maybe I should call back in two weeks. This is really crazy. How is one supposed to update their equipment or make necessary changes? Again, crazy.
Good luck ever getting an appointment. The automated system requires at least 20-30 minutes before you can ever get transferred to the department. They refuse to share a direct line to ever get ahold of anyone. And if you do get a call back, it's 2-4 months before you can get an appointment. I've spent 8 months trying to get a health issue addressed and it's an ordeal anytime you need anything done. Absolutely abysmal patient care. It feels like a racket.
This office does not have a good scheduling system. Remember that once you do your sleep study, you may not be able to see them for a follow up until 4 months or so. On top of it, keep in mind that they may cancel your appointment few days/weeks before your appointment and you might be asked to reschedule again and wait another few months. Below is my experience: I had an appointment with Dr. Vivek Jain on January 13. I met him that day, did a sleep therapy study later and returned the kits for a follow up study and appointment. When I asked for follow up appointment, they said I would not be able to meet my doctor until June (about 4 months of wait time) and booked me with Dr. Hunley (a nurse practitioner) on April 1st (April 1st was itself about 2 months of wait time but I had no other options although I wanted to be seen by Dr. Jain). Now, after waiting so many weeks, they have cancelled my appointment with Dr. Hunley! I called them and they told me that Dr. Hunley is leaving them on April 3rd or 4th and she has cancelled my appointment on April 1st. I asked them if they could book me with a different doctor or nurse practitioner and they told me they were unable to do so until June. This is definitely a terrible place to do sleep study and I would recommend against scheduling appointments with them. Now, I am trying to release my test results so that I can take them elsewhere. Such a waste of time. By the way, I was not called about my appointment cancellation. I got a notification through Follow-my-health (online application) and I called myself to see what is going on.
Good luck trying to treat sleep apnea. Impossible to get an appointment, 20+ minute wait time any time you call in to talk to someone. The process for getting treatment will require no fewer than 4 appointments and a sleep study, spaced out over 8+ months. Expect road bumps at every turn as it’s impossible to ever get a straight answer out of a time, and every mishap is blamed on a mysterious system or bureaucracy with no attempt to remedy. Better off going to a different provider altogether.
I spent over a decade of intense and frustrating work with sleep specialists with only modest gains before ending up in Dr. Jain's office. I was weary and frustrated and didn't understand why not even pills seem to really help me. Dr. Jain was able to accurately diagnose my sleep issues and offer a set of treatments that immediately changed my sleep. If you have chronic insomnia, go to your appointment with him with as much *medical* info on yourself as you can gather, tell him what you have done so far, and take the questionnaires he gives you seriously. He's not a therapist and he works efficiently so if you need a lot of hand-holding, see another doctor first. But if you need an accurate diagnosis and proper course of treatment for your sleep disorder, go to Dr. Jain.
I had no bad experiences compared to other doctors.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
