Brandy Wine Podiatry's Online Review Report Card

I have never written a Yelp review before, but I was so floored by my experience with Brandywine Podiatry that here I am. A third party scheduler set up my appointment at 4:00pm. She mentioned they ask that I arrive 30 minutes early being that I'm a new patient. I responded, "well I can't arrive that early maybe we should pick a different day." She responded "if you can print out the new patient paperwork and fill it out in advance at home, I'm sure that will be fine." Fast forward to today and in the middle of my very busy work day I get a phone call from BP. They said "You need to arrive at 3:30." And I said "I just can't get there that early." She mentioned accessing the paperwork on their website as an alternative, and my memory of the conversation with the scheduler came rushing back to my brain. I said, "Yes I can print it and fill it out in advance." She replied, "So then you can get here at 3:45 then?" I said, "I promise I'll try to arrive as early as I can for my 4:00 appointment." After hanging up, I remember thinking what a strange conversation that was. Race through my workday, print and fill out the paperwork while I'm eating lunch, and race to the doctor's office (unexpected road closure, torrential downpour). I arrive at 3:50 and look into the waiting room. The lights are turned off, and the door is locked. The office staff and Dr. McDermott who are just standing there chatting at the front desk look right at me as I jiggle the door handle with confusion. A staff member walks up to the door with an irritated 'who are you and what do want' face. I say "I'm here for my appointment?". She curtly asked my name, and when I gave it, she huffed at me and said "You have missed your appointment." I said "No, I busted my butt to get here early." The most ridiculous argument ensues. My favorite part - "The doctor has left. He has surgery." I said "He looked me in the eye and then chose to walk out the door ten minutes before my appointment time?!" I've since looked online and apparently they close at 4:00. Why would they schedule my appointment for 4:00?? The rudeness of the staff was beyond belief. The audacity....and the flagrant disregard for my time...just shameful. Have more respect for your patients. We're people...with lives. How dare I show up ten minutes early to my appointment.

Good doctors friendly staff. They call if appointments need to be changed

This was my first time at the Brandywine Podiatry with a client. We were seen by Dr. Mc Dermott. He did not come in with a proper introduction. The routine was quick, and felt rushed. He did not ask if I or my client had any questions or concerns. Which should he asked at every check up. I was very uncomfortable with this visit, and hope to see change in the future . However, the front office staff were polite and professional. Thanks ladies.

I went to this office after having an accident that involved a door closing on the back of my heel in the achilles tendon area, and unfortunately was seen by Dr. McDermott, who was very unprofessional. He walked into the room, no introduction, immediately asked what was wrong, never examined my heel. After I explained that a door had closed on the back of my foot, he immediately said oh, its probably tendinitis, (REALLY)... He ordered and x-ray, and stated that if the x-ray shows nothing he would have to order an MRI. After the revisit he stated that the x-ray showed nothing and referred me for therapy and a revisit after 3 weeks, stated that that was all that he could do. No MRI ordered, the pain still present. I will NOT be going back to Brandywine Podiatry and definitely would not refer or recommend them to anyone. I have found another podiatrist who is actually a "Doctor" and shows interest in his patients and their concerns, an MRI has been ordered and its a possibility that there is some damage to my achilles tendon. Dr. McDermott is the worst!!!!!! rushes you in and rushes you out!!!!!

I’ll never go back to Dr McDermott. He look at my foot and told me a had athlete foot after a second Dr told me the I had a soft callus. That is why Dr McDermott medicine wasn’t working. Most important when I was asking questions about him giving me a needle to scrap a callus he was in a rush and made a comment of “ I got other patients to see”. I was done after that. Very insensitive, don’t want to answer questions and rush you out of his office. Do you self a favor. Find another podiatrist. I didn’t ever go back to the follow up appointment. I just went someelse and got my foot corrected the right way

I went there to have a wart on my heal removed. Dr. McDermott told me it's actually no wart, but callus only to tell me 30 seconds later that I was right, it is a wart...needless to say that didn't make me feel very comfortable from the starr. Dr. McDermott never seemed very focused each of the 2 treatments. Never really explained much, and during my last check up he cut around the area of the wart, told me that it's completely gone and he will only put a small bandaid with neosporin on it. When he was done he turned around and told me while already facing the door, to have a good day... When I got home, only 5 minutes later, my sock was all bloody...all in all I just didn't really feel taken care of and will not return...unfortunately I just read a review form 2 years ago I wished I had read before...uninvolved and disconnected...and from my own experience I can tell you, nothing has changed.

Front office staff incompetent and unprofessional. My insurer and I conferenced call them to determine if they were in network but due to their lack of ability to answer questions we could not determine if they were. This incident happened in dealing with the Middletown office.

I like the office in bear Delaware . Everyone is really nice. They try there best to make sure the patient is taken care of and there needs are meant. 😊

Very good place for going to the doctors and lab work. They have regular doctors, foot, cardio and a couple others. Been going there for years.

Not happy with office staff they are not on top of your paperwork or anything at all doctor seem to be great perso . I have disability issue going on they have charged fees very quick and they yiur paper can be sitting there for up to 2 weeks or even more until u dont call to find out and ashley lady on front desk have attitude problem as well. Not happy with there service
