List of Barbara A Mcguirk's Reviews
Avoid this doctor. She does not recognize each patient as an individual and she rather make bold generalizations about your diagnosis or condition before she actually reviews your lab results. It seems like she has some very clear biases against certain people based on their appearances and she does not seem to be a data-driven physician either. If you choose to meet with this doctor make sure that ...
Would not recommend. I saw Dr. McGuirk for endometriosis. Before you can make an appointment or get information from the office they charge a non-refundable fee that can be used for multiple visits. I only made it to one visit. She didn't listen to me or my symptoms instead she lumped me in with the experiences of other patients. She didn't get any of my lab work or imaging from other doctors. She talked, I listened, nothing was specific to me or my needs, just her railing against American food system. She recommended an extreme diet and kept talking about the book she writing. Worst, she said I would have to be on Orilissa for the rest of my life, even though there is a recommended finite period because of side effects. I asked if she has a dietician on staff to help monitor the diet changes or peer reviewed research. She pointed me to YouTube videos. I hope this helps you make an informed decision before shelling out money unnecessarily.
If I could choose zero stars I would. I’m writing this for anyone who has endometriosis and is actually thinking of seeing this doctor..please, do NOT waste your time, energy, emotion, money. She doesn’t know what she’s doing with endometriosis, especially chronic cases. She believes that suppression therapy is acceptable and she pushes Orilissa on you..that’s the only way she agreed to operate on me so basically I was coerced into this extremely dangerous medication. I had “wide excision” with her and now am almost 100% worse than before but she claims it’s “because I decline suppression meds” and not because she’s actually a horrible surgeon. She’s also one of the top representatives of Abbvie aka company of Orilissa.. go see an actual endo excision specialist so you don’t end up like me, needing a third surgery, left more sick, and dealing with her awful self.
She’s really wonderful, her bedside manner is amazing, when she talks to you, you know she cares. She’s all about healing the whole body through nutrition and natural ways and doesn’t just throw medications at you. I truly trust her with my health and I do not take that lightly. Her staff is just as amazing as she is and they just make you feel so comfortable there even when you have to have some not so comfortable conversations.
Endo robbed me of so many years. Specialist after specialist. Misdiagnosed for almost 12 years. Then my mom found Dr. McGuirk. She saved me. I’ll never forget her asking me if I thought about how I would end it. The pain. It was its own person, living in my skin. It took over and crippled me. She believed me. She didn’t accuse me of wanting drugs. I remember her saying that it was difficult to accuse someone of drug-seeking when they don’t ask for pain meds. I only wanted it to go away. I remember waking up from surgery and bawling. The pain was gone. I had no idea how much pain I was in until it was gone. Gone. The adhesions, endo, cysts and fibroids. All gone. There is hope. Are there wait times? Yes, but Dr McGuirk takes her time and sometimes that means longer than expected. Are there costs insurance don’t cover? Yes, but when you’re in as much pain as I was you find away. Asking family or friends, giving up luxuries or doing whatever it takes short of robbing a bank. I did six months of Zoladex injections prior to surgery.
During my time as Dr. McGuirk's patient, she has proved time and time again that she values herself and her method of treatment over her patient's comfort. This led to me being on a drug that I was not comfortable with for longer than is FDA approved, leading to adverse side effects that she did not acknowledge. It also resulted in her rescheduling a necessary procedure to make time for her vacation- making me feel like my pain associated with endometriosis did not seriously matter to her. I went to Dr. McGuirk hoping to find a provider that prioritized my wellbeing as her patient and was thoroughly disappointed.
Dr. McGuirk is the most amazing human being I have ever met. Her smile and concern for others is unmatched. I first met Dr. M almost four years ago. At first I was not sure that her methods to treat Endometriosis were going to work but after experiencing many different symptoms from Endo I decided to go full force with her recommendations and I am more thankful than she will ever know for pushing me to better myself. Dr. M and the whole Endo squad (esp. Mari) are unbelievable. I can not thank them ALL enough for having my back day in and day out. 10/10 recommend!
I first switched to RADfertility after a bad experience with another Reproductive Endocrinologist. After becoming a patient, Dr. Mcguirk performed a successful endo excision surgery and immediately started a treatment plan that restored my quality of life. I haven't felt this good in over 20 years! She really cares and is so passionate in helping those battling endo. She truly takes the time to explain everything to you and has such a great bedside manner. I've seen the pain in her eyes when she sees us suffering because she truly cares and wants to help us all. I feel amazing now and can actually enjoy life. 💛
Dr. McGuirk was the first to actually sit down and listen to my symptoms and get to the bottom of things. She knows her stuff! To top it all off her team creates the support system you need. I’m so happy to have found Dr. McGuirk.
My journey with RAD and Dr. McGuirk started in September, 2018. My husband and I were trying to conceive and were having difficulty. We went to RAD, where we met Dr. McGuirk. I always say she changed my life and “fixed” me. I had no idea that what I was experiencing monthly wasn’t “normal”. It was what I had always experienced so I didn’t know any different. Because of her, I now know that I shouldn’t have been in the pain I was in each month or experiencing many of the of Endometriosis symptoms that I had. Dr. McGuirk is always learning more about Endometriosis and how to help her patients. She’s brilliant and truly cares for you! I’m eternally grateful to her and everyone at RAD for their unwavering support and care. On January 2, 2019 I had surgery to remove Endometriosis and fibroids. On January 7, 2020 our RAD miracle was born!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
