List of Diana Dickson Witmer's Reviews
Dr Whitmer provided support and pulled in the best area docs for my unique situation. She is very committed to her new role and support of women’s health in southern DE. I am a 2009 breast cancer survivor with no breasts due to mastectomy and failed reconstruction due to infections. Needle biopsy of black tissue resulted in no malignancy but led to rare event of infection that required 4 surgeries. We need more doctors in this area so we do not overwhelm the docs we have.
The previous reviews are spot on. I also found her to be condescending and really was not interested in what I was saying. She also did a biopsy on me & showed no concern when the tumor continued to grow for months. After a 2nd opinion from a doctor that worked in the same cancer center, I was told she broke the basic golden rules that indicate something is very wrong. I ended up with breast cancer found in the tissue, not the tumor which is why the tumor was growing when in fact it should have shunk after the biopsy. End results I was further tested & recommended for a bilateral mastectomy. I wouldn’t go to her if you want common consideration & any level of breast cancer expertise.
She appeared to be kind, but not personable. My biopsy was benign and I thought she would provide information on a diet to avoid chances of contracting breast cancer. Instead, she scheduled me to return in six months.
Was really hard to said goodbye, love her to the moon and back, she knows how to be there for you!!
The previous reviews were not recent but would have to agree. I found her to be condescending and really was not interested in what I was saying. It was a waste of a morning and my 9:30 appointment began at 10:15. Her staff was very friendly.
I was treated by Dr Dickson-Witmer 2 years ago and never left the review that I promised myself I would. I absolutely concur with the above reviews. Dr Dickson-Witmer was rude and condescending and was angry that I asked questions. I worked in the pathology lab for 20 years, so I knew what questions to ask. She recommended a psych consult when I became frustrated with her! Go to Penn!
I'm so happy to see these other negative reviews because they validated the way I felt after my visit!! The doctor was extremely rude to me and didn't listen to my concerns or perspectives at all.
My experience was horrible. As a primary care provider myself, I would never treat a patient as badly as she did me. Her care plan was already typed on the computer before she ever even met me, she recommended a lumpectomy with no reconstruction and was offended when I asked for a plastics consult to discuss this. She was rude and snippy. She told me I needed to see psych because I was upset about having breast cancer. Please do not go to her or waster valuable time! Also her office made follow up appointments for me without consulting me then got mad when I told them those appointments would not work with my work schedule. This is the least patient-centered care I have ever experienced in my life.
I went for a follow- up appointment with Dr. Dickson-Witmer only b/c Dr. Penman retired. I found Dr. Whitman and her PA’s to be judgmental and condescending. They made errors and I did not feel comfortable that my care was being handled correctly.
I found her and her staff to be unsympathetic to me as a breast cancer patient. She was very judgmental. I originally was a patient of Dr. Penman’s and loved her. It is unfortunate to have a female physician in such a well respected position and not feel supported as a patient.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
