MIchael Gebel's Online Review Report Card

He is a great doctor with excellent bedside manner, very approachable, affable and easy to understand. The office seems to be very relaxed, as if the staff enjoys their work.

Dr Gebel is extremely competent and went over and above to help me with my migraines. Went to bat for me with the VA in getting them to cover a certain medication I needed, and was nothing but attentive. Having seen both of the neurologists in the Fernandina Baptist system, It sound like the person complaining about Dr Gebel got him confused with the OTHER Neurologist in that office. He was the worst medical profesional I have ever seen in my 60 years of life. And she described him to a T with her review.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Gebel and was most impressed. He really wanted to help me with my migraines giving me plenty of time to share my story. He was patient, kind, intelligent, and was willing to help me get healthier.

After battling severe migraines I was sent to Dr. Gebel. He reviewed records, listened, explained what was happening and prescribed rx. I returned in a month with decreased migraine pain but still occurring. He adjusted dosage. No migraines. I strongly recommend Dr. Gebel. He is knowledgeable and cares about his patients.

I am not one to typically post reviews, however I felt the need to share my experience with Dr. Gebel. I have experienced intense headaches since the age of 11-12, and I’m now 26. I have been misdiagnosed over and over again and finally sought out a neurologist. I was told that Dr. Gebel was “the headache guy.” I was so excited to finally get an answer to why I had this pain. Unfortunately, my expectations were not met. Dr. Gebel’s bedside manner was as if I was wasting his time. He dictates his H&P and progress notes into the microphone during the visit instead of actually talking to you. Then, he told me I simply have migraines. The migraines, he referred to, were the headaches that I got maybe once or twice a month like when I’m stressed or don’t drink enough water, that are quickly cured with some ibuprofen. These are not the headaches I saw him for the in the first place. He classified those headaches as an effect of vasodilation and brushed them under the rug. He proceeded to throw the kitchen sink at my “migraines” by prescribing me typical migraine meds which I experienced horrible side effects from and didn’t have any positive effect on my headaches. I inquired about a CT scan, or any sort of imaging, because my gut was telling me that there is something wrong. I’m an ICU nurse of 3 years and I like to trust my gut. He then told me, “There’s a 99% chance nothing would show up on any imaging.” That is when I knew I did not trust this physician. I left and saw a different neurologist who sent me for an MRI during my first appointment and found a very large Chiari Malformation that will now require neurosurgery. Dr. Gebel misdiagnosed me with confidence, and I would NOT recommend him to literally anyone.

1). Dr Gebel ordered an MRI of my husband’s brain. That was a very good decision. 2)However, Dr Gebel (or the doctor that was filling in at the time the MRI results were available) did not bother to call when they got results of my husband’s MRI. When the MRI was read, my husband should have bn told to go to ER immediately!!!!! The MRI showed a GBT the size of a PEACH! I would not recommend Dr Gebel as a neurologist to anyone. Even if Dr Gebel was out of the office, Dr Gebel was responsible for the doctor filling in for him. I got a call fr Dr Gebel’s office... the day my husband had surgery! . Dr Gebel’s office was calling to schedule a F/U appt to discuss what to do about results of MRI. The next availability appt was in about (2) wks! Very disappointed!

He’s an amazing doctor and I highly recommend him. He has a great sense of humor that helps put you at ease.

He is straight to the point. We know he is one of the best at what he does, we have always felt great security by his explaining what why and even how.

Said I didn't have pain couldn't find anything wrong? You CANNOT FEEL MY PAIN SIR!! When is the last time you went to the Doctor for a checkup?? You're NUTS!!!!!!

Though he has good bed side manner, he doesn't explain anything and what he does answer is more of "because I said so" than anything else.
