List of Alan Bakst, Md's Reviews
Was supposed to get a scan and no one will tell me where when etc. Have been trying for over a month. Last year it was easy and now no one responds. Very disappointed.
I saw Dr Bakst a month ago. He wanted me to get a lung xray, which I did immediately. After 2 weeks of no calls about my xray findings, I left 3 voicemails over the next 2 weeks. I finally sent them a text message stating that no one has called me about my xray. Someone finally calle d me and said that she was sorry but she has been out of the office. I told her that's no excuse for someone not calling me back. He also ordered for me to take a home Cpap test, which I completed 2 weeks ago. Guess what - no test results yet - and probably won't get a call with the results. I'm done with this outfit. D
I have been a patient for 7 years or more. My appointments are on time with minimal wait, my prescriptions are handled efficiently and I find everyone in the office quite pleasant. Doctor does not make me feel rushed at all and answers my questions fully. I have referred family members to his office and will continue to do so.
It's very hard to give an opinion about Dr. Baxst because his office staff is very rude, uncaring, and they never return calls. In Feb. I left a message that my insurance did not cover my Advair any more and asked his staff if they could call the Insurance company and tell them I needed to take Advair because I had already taken others that did not work. The letter I got from insurance said that if they got a call from my provider they would make an exception. So rather than do this, they chose another medication for me, which I must be alergic to because I have a sore throat, sneezing constantly and I am losing my voice. Here it is Sept. and I still can't get someone to call me back about these issues.
Directions from turn onto JFK inadequate. I'm sitting in lobby. Directions tell me to be in another location. Also gave me 2 wrong turns.
Dr Bakst was great. However office staff is terrible did the sleep study 3weeks ago should heard something but no nothing. Talking to office staff they told me they didn’t get the results back that’s BS and she also said they will call me back. Once again nothing. So I will try again to see if they got the results and maybe they did or maybe they didn’t. I just need to know what to do. Terrible office staff and Terrible communication
I can’t speak to the doctor’s care, because unfortunately, my father never got the chance to be seen. He had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow, and since we hadn’t received any confirmation, I called the office myself—only to find out it had been canceled because the doctor is out of town. They claimed they left a voicemail on 7/9, but I never received anything. When I asked about the next available appointment, I was told it would be over a month from now—after already waiting more than a month. What made it worse was the complete lack of apology or empathy from the staff. When I explained that I hadn’t received any message and that one phone call isn’t enough, I was told they only call once because they “have hundreds of patients to reschedule.” That’s not a justification—it’s an excuse. After reading through other reviews, it’s clear my experience isn’t unique. There’s a consistent pattern of poor customer service, lack of communication, and unresponsiveness from the front office. That kind of disorganization and indifference can have serious consequences for patients—especially elderly ones. We will be finding a new provider. I won’t know if the doctor is worth the wait because we won’t be coming. And as someone who runs multiple offices, I can say with confidence: this is unacceptable. It shows a clear lack of systems, customer service training, and basic respect for patients’ time and needs. This may just be another appointment to your office—but to the people on the other end, it’s their health, their time, and their peace of mind.
One of the best doctor I every see in my life I
Doctor Baskt is wonderful.. But I can’t even rate this office. No one answers the phone. Text are not responded to sometimes hours after. Waiting on a sleep study for months now. Office staff are nice when you go in. But so rude and dismissive on the phone. Horrible people should never have to experience such poor care from those who are paid to care. No star.
First time seeing Dr. Bakst today. Highly recommend him and his office staff. They couldn’t be nicer and even took me earlier than my scheduled appointment. They’re very thorough and take their time to explain everything, answer any questions and don’t rush through your appointment. I couldn’t be happier and look forward to my follow up appointment. Many thanks to Dr. Bakst and his office staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
