List of Alvaro Castillo's Reviews
My Fiancé' recently had gallbladder surgery performed by Dr. Castillo at JFK on a Tuesday. By the following day she was experiencing such intense pain that I became concerned. I called several times over the course of the day (always reaching an answering machine) seeking advice and asking for a stronger pain medication for her. After several hours I finally received a call back from his assistant and was essentially told "she should feel better tomorrow." The following day her pain became more intense and becoming frightened I tried calling again. After finally receiving a call back from his nurse I was told there he wasn't available to write a new prescription and that she should feel better the next day. The following morning my Fiancé' was in worse pain and Dr. Castillo's office said to either make an appointment with a Pain Dr. or take her to the E.R. there was nothing they could do. She spent the next four days in the hospital at Jupiter Medical Center. From the time she was admitted on Friday morning the Doctors and staff tried to reach Dr. Castillo with no success. Finally after her third day of tests/scans and a possible surgery Dr. Castillo finally returned the numerous calls by texting her attending physician. The Doctors and staff at Jupiter were stunned by the lack of care or response from either Dr. Castillo or his office. When the nurse from our Insurance Co. called to consult with his office and she inquired why they didn't follow up she was told by his office staff "We don't call patients for a follow up...they have to call us! If you want a surgeon to remove an organ within 30 min, not follow up when you're readmitted with a possible complication and if you want to be arrogantly and rudely treated by his staff.......than he and his office is exactly where you want to go!
Avoid this office if you are really needing something done and are in pain. Mr. Castillo (I refuse to call him a doctor) does not treat each patient with urgency and comes across with a smug attitude. I got the runaround for a month from his office just to get an MRI. The whole time while hurting, he didn't seem to pressed to help and didn't care. His staff is very condescending and won't call back for days after they spend 3 full days of sending all calls to an answering service. They postpone, postpone, cancel, then reschedule appointments and surgeries. I was already feeling weary about letting him do any kind of operation on me after our first meeting, so I consider his postponing "Divine Intervention." It's doctors like him that push people to get pain medicines from friends and family instead of actually fixing the problem of what's wrong with someone. You can't blame COVID for everything. BULLET DODGED!!!!
Dr. Alvaro Castillo the best surgery in the entire USA, dont allow his young to think oh he is too young, nope he is amazing, Dr. Castillo conducted a Whipple procedure to my husband in December 2020 absolutely amazing, 7 hrs surgery, Dr. Castillo remove a malignant cancer located in my husband head pancreas. Today after 5 month my husband recuperated 100%. We are so blessing to find him. Thank you Alvaro for be so intelligent, humble and knowledgeable. When you visit him he will take his time to explain you everything when you leave that office you will be confident that everything will be fine. I give God thank you every day we found him, he safe my husband life. My husband and I Love Dr. Alvaro Castillo.
Dr. Castillo is a great surgeon. No complications with surgery and the scar is barely noticiable. He listens to your concerns and address them. Highly recommend!
Dr Castillo is the best! He operated on me the same night I checked into the ER with appendicitis (when he heard I was still nursing my 6th month old baby and so I could recover get home as soon as possible). Serious VIP treatment! He was compassionate, explained everything in detail, and I didn’t even need pain medication after my surgery as I had literally no pain. Three weeks later I can’t even see the surgery scar. Couldn’t recommend him more!!
I saw Dr. Castillo for maybe a maximum of 5 minutes before my surgery and not at all afterwards. Tried to get an appointment after I was released from the hospital to no avail. Not happy with this doctor! Only 3 stars because of this and not less; I guess he did a good surgery, how would I know?
The office visit was ok but the follow up with the office staff was terrible.
Dr Castillo performed my gall bladder surgery. He made me comfortable about the procedure and answered all my questions. Very easy to talk to and listened to my concerns before and after surgery
I saw Dr.Castillo while I was in Wellington Regional Medical Center. He was without question the most unprofessional, rudest Dr. I have ever encountered. Apparently he felt that his abilities didn’t match up with my condition and he dealt with that by entering my room in a fury and treating me inhumanly. He is a monster, beware of him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
