No bedside manner. My first visit was a disaster. Very rude

My mom had been seeing another kidney specialist in town for the last ten years. I began going with her to her appointments when she was diagnosed with Stage IV kidney disease. At the previous Dr the first appointment I accompanied her on we waited 2 hours in the waiting room. On the second 1 12 hours. My mom was encouraged to go down to the dialysis center because they stressed the need to get a port visiting the center would help her understand the dialysis center. Thats when she learned of Dr Abanilla from a patient of theres. How pleasant it is never to wait more than 10 minutes these last 4 years Ive been accompanying her at Dr Abanillas. Dr Abanilla takes his time with you answers your questions and has helped my mom stay off of dilayasis. Understandably she will likely one day need dialysis. However she hasnt needed it yet and her previous Dr was ready to cart her in for the port and get her on dialysis.

I would absolutely recommend Dr. Abanilla to anyone. My own mother drove over an hour to see him. I worked for Dr. Abanilla for years. He is an intelligent caring and dedicated physician. He spends time with his patients and their care are his top priority. He will absolutely listen to his patients and wont stop until he finds the source of any issues. He keeps current with the latest information and when I moved he was double boarded for both nephrology and internal medicine. I without a doubt would trust Dr. Abanilla.

No bedside manner scares you with summary notes

Very good bedside manner explains well my disease and the plan of care. I was ANA positive turn into negative ANA in a matter of 12 months. I was referred to him when I had TIA in 2000 due to 4050% blockage in my right kidney. The blockage did not change until now Jan 2019. I thank the Lord for leading me to Dr. Abanilla.

Very intelligent easy to communicate with sense of humor considerate of your time straight forward with diagnosis assists with directing you to other doctors if he feels your situation requires it and takes an interest in you as a person. Given the small medical area that we live in I feel that Dr. Abanilla is exceptional.

Dr. has been attending to my wife for several years now and results are good. She is in remission with lung cancer and the chemo treatments have wrecked havoc with her kidneys. His treatment changed her to almost normal. He is a knowledgable and caring professional.
