Phyllis Murphy's Online Review Report Card

I set up new patient Apt, when I got to the office I found the rudest and unprofessional front Office and Insurance coordinator staff. The Insurance Coordinator came out to the waiting room and in the presence of another patient start screaming at me about my Ins. Staff don't realize that their salary comes from the Patients? wondering if the Dr even know what goes on at the front office, if not she needs to get involve since she is losing patients due to RUDE Staff. Left to find another office worth it to give them my money.

Having worked previous before retirement and a medical office you hear all kinds of stories about the positions. I had always heard good things about Dr. Murphy and I had an area that I was concerned about on my ankle. Her front office staff her medical assistant and Dr. Murphy herself are just wonderful. Dr. Murphy explained everything to me, the possibilities of the outcome of the biopsy and how to care for the biopsy site and I think she was genuinely caring. I wants again went over my instructions for the care of the site with another lady in the front office that I had not met yet, and she was genuinely patient with me and answered all my questions. This is a wonderful office! Thank all of you for your time today.

Often runs late, office staff is not friendly, limited appts available, not up to latest tech and skin care products. Office staff complained I rescheduled too much, even was always in advance of 48 hrs. There are better dermatologists and office experiences.

Wait times are insane, outdated skincare, terrible.

As a new resident to Florida from MO who has some sort of a serious arm rash/bite issue, I was referred to and called Dr. Murphy's office at 1:38 p.m. on a Monday. The person who answered the phone cut me off mid sentence to put me on hold for several minutes. When she returned and I began to speak stating I would be a new patient and need to be seen for some sort of a rash/bite that has spread on my arm, I was cut off again and asked if I am insured and if I have a PPO or an HMO. I am a retired HR professional, thank goodness, so I did know what she was referring to. Unfortunately, I am newly married and on my husband's insurance so wasn't sure if it was a PPO or HMO. I replied by saying: "I'm not sure, but I know it is United Healthcare UMR Choice". She said, well we would suggest you find out before scheduling an appointment. I replied by sharing that I was calling because I was referred by my neighbor and wanted to see if my issue is something that the doctor would be able to diagnose, or if they believed I perhaps should see a medical doctor. She responded by saying they aren't really scheduling any new patient appointment for another 3 weeks anyway. WOW! Needless to say, I hung up the phone, found another dermatologist who was in network with UMR and willing to listen to me. They scheduled my appointment with a nurse practitioner for the same week and said they would take a look at the issue and refer me out if needed. I think front staff training is in order here unless they really don't care if they get referrals or new patients.

Dr Murphy & her entire staff are courteous, professional, show genuine care & concern. I haven't felt like I was in such good hands for a long long time. Sense of urgency & exoerienced to help you with all of your dermatology needs. I had a basil cell carcinoma suegically removed from my back and what a superb job with such minimal marking & stitches removed with the same expertise. I highly recommend Dr Murphy & her exceptional staff - nurses & desk support staff too

My wife and I have both been patients of Dr. Murphy for over 10 years in Clearwater. She has always been personable and interested our concerns. One thing we appreciate is that she does not waste anyones time, hers or ours. She’s a straight shooter and takes time where necessary. We will continue to see her as long as she chooses to practice.

Cold bedside manor. When tried to reschedule cancel a surgery and schedule it with a plastic surgeon, she diligently pursued payment for a surgery she did not perform. Do not recommend her at all.

I have been under Dr. Murphy's care since 1991 and trust her with the most delicate and dangerous skin problems I have. I will continue to drive over 80 miles from Riverview to see her.

The wait time is ridiculous and when you are finally brought back, mind you to wait some more, you can hear Dr. Murphy lashing out at her assistants right outside the door! The baffling part is that she must believe patients can't hear her because as soon as she walks in the door its all fake smiles and laughter from her while that assistant stands in the corner. As far as the actual visit goes, the most non thorough skin check I've seen and then she's racing out the door with your questions trailing far behind her. Nice staff, but horrible doctor. Find another dermatologist that is nice and thorough because it's your money, time, and health!
