Avante At Boca Raton's Online Review Report Card

3rd weak in this facility. The appearance makes it very clean looking floors are shining. The rehab department is absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately you only receive 20 minutes to an hour if that long of physical therapy the rest of the day you are in your bed. Won't even discuss how bad the food is because all these facilities the lowest budget goes to the food. Main complaints the mismanagement of medications certain medications I'm supposed to be on are extremely important or I will have seizures I've been here 3 weeks I've received one of that medication. God forbid you in pain because I have literally waited 4 hours longer than the time period of getting the pain medication on several occasions not ones not twice it's a game with them there is no care or concern for the pain it bothers to be them to hear the button call because God forbid they might have to do something. Will never come back here again don't even think about coming here.

I was recently reading over the details of a lawsuit against this facility… I’m shocked it’s still open. You can Google Phyllis Roland and see what they did to her. A nurse unhooked her vent and let her suffocate for 6.5 minutes - while an alarm rang the entire time - and ignored her. Read the other reviews… This place has had numerous complaints; bed sores, improper medication, careless “nurses”, etc. If you don’t like your family members, send them here to be tortured to death… because that’s what this place does to people.Absolutely disgusting.

I do not write reviews, however – Jerry, the Administrator, has shown to me a great understanding that the pandemic is real and the caring that it is important to keep not only the residents but the staff, care givers, family/friends healthy. He has established regular update calls to discuss issue and provide solution, unlike other facilities that do not provide any information or that send out numerous letters just enumerating the sheer number of continued residents/staff that are ill or dying. Colleen, Director Social Services, who is responsive to the family and care givers, and I have seen show respect and caring for not only the residents but the employees as well. Last, but not least, Stacey, the Activities Director, who understands that ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’ and finds the way to ‘reach’ the resident (mentally and physically) and keep them engaged when it is all to easy to let one become inactive. Avante team – please keep up the good works for all our loved ones – with or without families.

If you care about your loved one, DO NOT admit them to this terrible home. This is by FAR THE WORST place in all of America. My grandfather was admitted here and for DAYS we tried to call to get a hold of him, each day a VERY nasty and RUDE head nurse would hang up on us multiple times. While my grandfather was there his birthday approached, i called EVERY HOUR from 8 am - 4 pm with no transfer to speak to him, i cried on the phone as i have NEVER gone a birthday without talking to him, i wanted answers finally the once again very rude head nurse told me that my grandfather had been sleeping all day ....... My grandfather has been on the same routine for 60+ years up at 5 am - 8pm with no napping in between... there was just NO WAY he was sleeping all day... no one was able to speak to him on his birthday.... They sedate these poor elderly so they do not have to care for them. I tried to ask if there was a window i could sit by outside they told me no... HORRIBLE PEOPLE WORK HERE! this place should not be in business. this deserves a - 100 stars.

Staff is very professional and really care about their residents. II ring the bell sometimes because they can't read minds but they check all the boxes. 😊

I have to say the staff there is wonderful considering the state or the owners really needs to give this place a facelift because besides the staff this place is shabby and depressing. My review is based on Coleen, Diana,Yolanda,June, Vivian, Larry and Garlene ( not sure how it’s spelt) and I’m sure I’m forgetting someone. Coleen was my lifesaver not only is she caring sweet and goes above and beyond for you but and you can just tell she’s genuine. Obviously no one wants to be in a rehab or a home but she definitely brings some sunshine every day! Thank you coleen and staff:)

Do not use this nursing home. One star is too high. My father was scheduled to be there for 2 weeks for respite care. We brought him home after 4 days. No one knows what is going on and no one takes responsibility. We visited him twice a day for meals. Day 1 he was naked. Day 2 he was left urinated. Day 3 we found him bruised on his elbow, his legs, his inner thigh. The assistant head of nursing was worthless and fake. The head of nursing does not know what her staff does.

My father had been transferred here for only a short term rehab stay from West Boca Medical Center. Despite the short term status, and the fact that I was "remote" the entire time in Philadelphia, the entire staff assisting my father have been wonderful not only for his immediate needs in PT/medication, but also with assistance with social services and home healthcare after discharge.A special thank you to Colleen, the Director of Social Services, who truly went above and beyond the standard of care with ensuring my father received the home health care he desperately needed weeks afterwards, even after some snafu's with my fathers own primary care physician.

Social services staff stated that "Really... things can go bad for you very quickly". When I asked her to have some compassion. They deny visitation to caregivers because the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Poor communication between departments results in poor patient care. As a paramedic I have seen a lot worse. In fact, nursing homes were always my worst calls because I would have to write up the blatant incompetence and negligence. How do people become so calloused? Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.
