List of Charles Johnson's Reviews
I’ve been going to the office for several years now maybe 8 - 10. It’s unfortunate Because Dr Johnson and Gabe are amazing healthcare providers and people; however their front desk staff do not share the same bed side manner I will leave it at that.
What Visit? 0-4 attempts. Patients are selectively or wholesale Refused appointments. You can only complain to the staff who rejected you. Ergo, I wanted to Upgrade to Concierge ($2500) but as it was being described by one desk girl, another interrupted and said there was a waiting list for that too, and would call me back. NO Call Back. The staff even suggest you got to Urgent Med or ER. Want Nothing to do with 5+ year running patient.
Patients are selectively (or wholesale?) refused appointments. (see my 0-fer-3 below). Ergo, I wanted to Upgrade to Concierge ($2500) but as it was being described by one desk girl, another interrupted and said there was a waiting list for that too, and she would call me back. NO Call Back. Beyond rude and into hostile. The staff has even previously suggested going to Urgent Med or ER. They want nothing to do with 5+ year running patient. This instance and other doctors here have made me question if I even can continue living in the Boca/Delray area. My name in full is below for easy response. Hopefully the excellent doctors there will read it (and aren't the source of the problem/policy) and this review will get removed.

Dr. Johnson is the best doctor in Boca. Harriet and Gabe, the PAs are amazing. My entire family (7 of us) are patients for over 20 years. Why the 2 stars? Every time I go there I am treated so disrespectfully by Donna, the front desk clerk, that I dread my visits. Real life example - someone held the back door open for me and I entered. Apparently that is for "Concierge" only. I was humiliated in the waiting room by being scolded in front of a packed house that I am not "concierge" and shouldn't come in that door. Then after flying in from a business trip I arrived 12 minutes late for an appointment. Before I got to the desk the window slid open and Donna said "You're late, we're not seeing you. Reschedule." Sadly, I begged - I waited 2 months for an appointment and as a breast cancer survivor among several other health issues I get nervous about my health and had been waiting 2 months for my blood test results. No exaggeration, as I cried and begged she stated that my trip and nightmare getting to the office had nothing to do with her. Is seeing Harriet worth this every time? Not sure but Dr. Johnson should not allow this to be the decision factor.
After having Dr. Johnson as my trusted physician for more than 25 years and needing an appointment for extreme dizziness with very high blood pressure, I was told when I called for an appointment that he is now only providing concierge services at a fee of $2,500 per family member, per year. When asked if that included any free services, I was told no, and that insurance would still be billed. The benefits, I was told, include being seen the same day instead of needing an appointment, and parking near the building. I was completely blown away. The person I spoke with first about this was completely heartless and didn't even provide the information, I had to draw it out of her. Her first response was simply, he only sees concierge patients. I had to ask what that meant to which she replied, you were sent a letter. I then had to ask several questions to get the full details. What a shame to see Dr. J. have such uncaring people working for him now. I gave a rating of 2 instead of 1 only because I still care for Dr. J and his wife, Lisa.

After more than 25 years with Dr. Johnson as my family doctor, I was told he only sees concierge patients now when I called for an appointment for extreme dizziness with high blood pressure. When I asked what that meant, the lady who answered the phone simply answered, you were sent a letter. I had to pry to get the details about what it meant and through several questions, I was told that it costs $2,500 a year which provided for same day visits, no appointment needed, and parking close to the building, all while still billing your insurance and collecting your copays. When I asked if Dr. Johnson could perhaps make an exception given my condition and that he had been my doctor for close to 30 years, she told me to hold. Didn't ask, just said I have to put you on hold and click. Someone else got on the phone after a few minutes and said, so you have a question. I said, so I need to go through everything again or did that person tell you anything about my call? I learned this person's name was Donna and she basically said sorry, it's Dr. Johnson's new business model and called me, "honey" when saying goodbye. Very, very sad and disappointing to have relied on, confided in and trusted someone for so very long only to be tossed out like a pair of old shoes simply for $2,500 a year. And very sad to experience the low customer-friendly people Dr. Johnson has on staff these days. My last visit was July 2022 and the switch to concierge was put in place less than a month later I learned. What a courtesy it would have been to have been given a heads up during that visit or a follow up call to a letter that was supposedly sent, versus being told when in need of care. I would have given a rating of 1 except that I still care about Dr. Johnson and his wife, Lisa.

Dr. Johnson has been the doctor for my family and extended family for over 20 years. He is the most caring and compassionate doctor...treating my parents with patience and kindness. He is the most thorough diagnostic doctor I ever met. While being treated at Mount Sinai in New York for a rare cancer I consulted with him from the first day of my diagnosis. His guidance and support were invaluable to me. He is smart, warm and kind. A very special man and doctor!!!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
