Normally, probably the scariest part of the procedure is the administration of the local anesthesia. Other than the tiniest prick, I have not felt any pain or discomfort when he has injected me. The rest of the procedure is actually relaxing. I call him the feng schui of surgeons, he is so calming during the procedure. Most importantly, not only did he successfully remove the melanomas on the first try, but though it's only been 3 months since the first procedure, the healing has been quite amazing. I have received numerous comments from friends and others at how well the scars have healed. Also, of note, is the time Dr. Cabrera spent with me before the procedure explaining what to expect during and after. He very patiently answered all my questions. I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. I already had breast cancer, and thought I was rid of this beast!!! But, it popped up again. I was recommended to go to Dr. Cabrera, and so I did. From the minute I walked into his office, I knew this was the "one". Dr. Cabrera spent a long time with me explaining what had to be done, and boy, it was more extensive then I thought. I was a nervous wreck. I just didn't want to feel anything due to the fact that this was being done with a local and I was petrified. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Cabrera's knowledge and talent. When I first went to see him, he wouldn't do what I asked for. He told me I wouldn't be happy and made other suggestions. Of course he was right. Months later he performed a neck lift on me. There was no general anesthesia and I felt nothing. There also was no pain during the healing process.
