Very thorough, diligent and knowledgeable. Dr. Patel took time to explain all aspects of the suggested procedure!
I have been getting Eylea treatment with Dr. Patel for macular degeneration. He is a careful provider with an experienced staff. He keeps his people and they are a team. Dr. Patel is a pleasant man he does a good job explaining the science of the treatment.
I would have left a better review for Dr Patel, but his office staff was just awful. Rude, impatient, and dismissive. My husband needed additional surgery and instead decided against Dr Patel for his subsequent surgery because of the office staff, notably Dr Patel's nurse. She should not be in this line of work and it's important that Dr Patel know that his nurse is forcing patients away.
Front office administrator is horrible/they just do not care about patients Should be replaced with AI - totally without care of their clients
My experience at Dr. Patel's office today was extremely uncomfortable. First the older receptionist (there are two) who was in charge of the phone, had not good manners with the patients in the waiting room. She would demand to have the masks on in a very bad attitude. I had the mask on but barely covering my nose because I get suffocated and my eyes get dry with my own breathing if I put it on tight at the bridge of my nose. She demanded I had to push it all the way up even though my nostrils were covered and after I had explain my problem. She then came out of the reception enclosure with a tape on her hands with the intention of taping off the mask to my nose...even after I had told her I get suffocated and that I would pull it all the way up when I go in to see the Dr. I could not believe my eyes. That invasion of personal space is not acceptable. To avoid any more arguments I told her I would wait in the car and to call me when my name was called in. However she said that it wasn't sure the Dr. would see me after the issue with the mask that she would ask him first. I told her to go and ask him then, but she said she couldn't because the Dr. was still at his lunch hr. How could the Dr. still be out of the office with a waiting room already with more than 4 people. My appt. was at 1pm, I arrived 1/2 hr. early, but there was another patient with a 12:45pm appt., but the Dr. was not in. How can they schedule appts 15 min apart when the Dr. will not even be at the office? No wonder they have a sign posted notifying people of 2-3 hrs. waiting time. How unconsidered could that Dr. be of his patients? How disrespectful as well with people's time. It was my first time, so I cannot speak about the Dr. but how you are treated at the reception says a lot about the staff and the physician as well. I rather find another specialist than going through this experience again, and 2-3 hours waiting time is a bit too much for me.
Another doctor in Naples did not want to do a retinal operation because the patient was old. Dr. Patel took the patient immediately and urgently operated on the 88-year-old patient and did an excellent surgery. the patient did not lose vision in that eye.
I was sent to Dr. Patel, my third doctor in less than 18 hours, because of a torn retina. My surgery did not go smoothly: even after telling his assistant that numbing drops wore off quickly for me (based on previous experience), she never returned to give me more. As I sat upright in the chair for laser surgery (I have always been able to lie down), sure enough, the numbness wore off. The doctor saw me squirming and recognized it had worn off but told me he was almost finished. I can’t describe the excruciating pain! Then at checkout, with painful headache from no real anesthesia, a dilated eye for the third time in those 18 hours, and having driven myself there, the front staff was not very friendly. When they couldn’t determine which of my TWO insurances was the primary one, they told me I had to pay the $2500 or so right then. Even worse, any credit card payment would result in an extra 4%, so cash or check was the preferred payment. Afterward, a great deal of blood residue remained in my eye, blocking my vision, and I have since had to pay several thousand dollars more to have that corrected with another doctor. The staff was friendlier at my follow-up, but I would not recommend them given any choice. I waited a year to write this because COVID prevented a subsequent visit with a new doctor who was MUCH better.
Shouldn't an eye doctor make eye contact? Or at least introduce himself? This is my first visit to the office and the doctor, so I'll hold off on an in-depth review until my next appointment. I will say that - after five minutes in the waiting room - I'm beginning to believe there's something to Feng Shui. The front door of the office leads directly to a bathroom, and - judging from the energy levels of the reception and accounting staff - the "chi" must be surging in the door and directly down the toilet. The cure could be simply keeping the door to the bathroom closed. But what do I know? Dr. Patel's medical assistants were knowledgeable, cheerful, and gentle, all qualities that I especially appreciate where my eyes are concerned. Thank you!
I went in for my yearly checkup and found out that I had a Retinal tear/detachment in my right eye. I had trouble since my cataract surgery two months earlier but never expected this outcome. Dr. Patel and his staff jumped into emergency mode taking an ultra sound, giving me a laser treatment and performed surgery 3 days later. Dr. Patel and his staff have been extremely caring, highly professional and compassionate. Dr. Patel saved my sight which I would have lost if he hadn’t discovered the tear. I’m grateful to him and his staff for their excellent care!
Dr. Patel , and his staff are extremely professional. He performed Detached Retina Surgery on me and laser surgery...and I have had no problems since then. I have recommended two others to visit him and they too are very pleased. He is awesome and I will not visit anyone else for my eyes. Dr. Patel told me ....he was the BEST, and I now know that's true!! I feel lucky to have found him!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
