My dad had a cornea transplant at the age of 89, the transplant restored some of his eye site which has allowed him to be more independent. Dr. Schechter has great bedside manner, very patient and caring for my dad’s post surgery care! At my dad’s age, his health is very fragile and comes with some extra care needs. Each time we’ve needed Dr. Schechter to take a look at his eyes, he’s been very accommodating and goes above and beyond to make my dad comfortable and resolve the problem. Highly recommend Dr. Schechter - he cares and he’ll make you feel at ease when making eye care decisions!

BUYER BEWARE! To start, Dr. Barry Schecter has zero bedside manner. After waiting more than an hour to see him, he gives me the ‘bums-rush’ out the door, insulting me when I asked a question. After paying $3600 for cataract surgery, he wanted to charge me an additional $50 to give me a copy of my own reading eyeglass prescription (squeeze every last penny, doc). Immediately after leaving his office today I signed a release form for another doctor to obtain my records from him and be done with Dr Barry Schecter, Florida Eye Microsurgical. He is an outstanding ophthalmological surgeon. It is my pleasure to highly recommend Dr Schechter, for anyone who need Eye Surgery. You couldn't find a more caring and compassionate doctor. He restored my confidence in the medical profession all the way through Pre & Post Surgery of my eye cataract removal, and lens replacement; he never once doubted my successful recovery. He cautioning me on all the do's and don'ts for a successful recovery after surgery. In addition, his medical assistants were excellent towards me throughout the process along with all of the his other office staff. My wife and I both thank you very much for your calm demeanor, total confidence, and providing a total care office environment. Everything was done at the Eye Institute facility and reviewed minutes later with me as a patient. You are the best Dr Schechter! Many thanks to you and your excellent staff. Schechter, MD has properly diagnosed my eyes and determined that he could remove my cataracts and correct my vision with IOL implants, so that I would no longer need external glasses again for the rest of my life. I have undergone this operation and I can truly say that now I am eyeglasses free. I presently have excellent vision for closeup, medium and distant vision since surgery that took place only six weeks ago. At 80 years of age, I am no longer a slave to my trifocal external glasses that previously was on my eyes or in my pocket at all times. I have put away glasses in less than two weeks. I am a 80 yr old male, who had eye surgery for cataracts & trifocal lens (IOL) implants, beginning on Jun 17th 2021 by Dr Barry Schechter. Six weeks later, I am totally pleased with the work that he performed. I can now see clearly on all levels, closeup, mid-range, and distance, independent of wearing external eye glasses. Quantity over quality! Need I say more.

Might be a really fine doctor if he had the time to spend with you. Any physician who sees 50 to 60 patients a day cannot do the job that is satisfactory. That also goes for his office staff. You are out of luck if there is an emergency and just use your imagination on the time it takes when you have an office appointment.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. He showed no real concern for how awful the condition of my eye was. He proceeded to tell me that he couldn't do anything for me because of needing a prior authorization from my insurance company. I informed him that I had my eye lid Lanced before in a doctor's office and there was no prior authorization needed. In a very stern tone he continued to tell me that there was nothing he could do without the authorization. His office made no attempt to verify that a prior authorization was needed. On the following day pre a inquiry by my internal medicine doctor to expedite the process for me,the doctors office informed them that they didn't need a prior authorization after informing me that they did! As a result of this extremely horrible doctors visit, I had to see another doctor the following day to address the serverty of my eye. I would not recommend this doctor.

I’ve been visiting Dr. Schecter for approximately five years and I have found that the care and service provided has been excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient.
