I was dealing with postpartum depression and was feeling very overwhelmed. A friend I had been confiding in scheduled an appointment for me and I didn't even care if they took my insurance or not at the time, as i really needed help. I provided her with my ID and insurance info beforehand. I had my first appointment and there was no mention of whether or not they took my insurance or if i owed anything at the time of the appointment. Following my appt. I received a bill in the mail for $350 which i paid immediately. During my second appt I inquired about how much it would cost for follow up appts. I was told by the receptionist that they do accept my insurance and had my insurance information. Ok, so why did I receive a bill? I let her know that I had already paid the bill for my first appt and she said I would receive a refund within 30 days. Over the next several months, I continued to see the doctor and spoke to staff multiple times about when I would receive my money back. I was given the run around until I ultimately decided to stop seeing the doctor. Yes, I could have been more proactive in verifying everything before my first appt, but I just wasn't in the mental state to do so. I of course never receive my refund and its been over a year now.
One of the worst Physicians I have ever had. I was dismissed with a letter after seeing him for many years. The office staff is a anightmare! Compassion would be a nice touch! He will keep you coming for ever if he could. It's all about money. Most of these reviews are from other Physcians. He was never a surgeon!
Dr Raele was a surgeon first and then went on and became a psychiatrist. He is beyond brilliant and knows the interaction of many different medications. While he tends to run very late, he gives each Pt his undivided attention. He frequently thinks out load and although he never intends to one up anyone, I’m not sure he recognizes his brilliance. He had dramatically helped several of my patients. I highly recommend him!
I've been seeing Dr. Raele religiously since I was in middle school so it's been almost 10 years. He's the best psychiatrist I've been to by far and I would recommend him to anyone who asks me about who I go to. Now living in Tennessee, I don't get to visit him as much but any time I go home, I make sure to set an appointment so I can give him updates and we can see how I've coped being so far. Dr. Raele cares about my well being more than any doctor I've dealt with. He's worked with me through medication trials, swings in issues and once I was ready to try not being on medication, he made sure I did it safely and monitored me in case I needed to get back on them. Dr. Raele at this point in my life is not just a psychiatrist to me, he's played a big part in my growth and how I handle my day to day struggles.
Dr. Raele is a kind person. He listens, then tells it like it is. He's extremely knowledgeable about all things new in the medical field. He and his staff smile often. But if I could only use one word to describe Dr. Raele, it'd be, again, that he's kind. And in today's world, there just isn't enough kindness.
What can I say—this is a tough speciality that doesn’t always get the recognition deserved. I’m from NYC & was horrified by the way psychiatry is administered in Florida. Then I met Dr Raele. He’s not your typical psychiatrist. For starters, he’s incredibly bright—he knows medicine. He’s interested in treating the whole patient. But what was most unusual is that unlike other psychiatrists I met in Florida, he actually takes the time to speak with you. He’s fantastic and I wouldn’t use anyone else (even if I have to wait a little longer to see him). Great physician.

Started seeing Dr Raele and now I can see why he has such a long waiting list. He actually takes his full time with you and cares. He is the best psychopharmacologist and knows everything about medications.
I was steered to Dr. Raele by a psych nurse best friend. The past year has been frought with family medical problems and my girls thought i was getting dementhia because I was forgetting the smallest things. I had to takeoff work for 6 weeks because I couldn't do the work that I have been doing for 50 years! Dr. Raele took the time with me, going over everything that happened and went over my medications, He took me off 2. He will not over-medicate. All my tests do not show any signs of dementia. After spending 1 1/2 hrs. with him, I mentally felt better. One of my problems, the biggest one, is lack of sleep. He explained that sleep loss drains your brain of the elements you need to function. I am going for a sleep test and will go back to him with the results. I would recommend him to all.my friends. The biggest thing is that he TAKES TIME with his patients, sadly lacking with other doctors
If I could give Dr. Raele zero stars I would without hesitation. During a 4 day hospital stay, he diagnosed me with "psychosis" on paper but told my parents that I was experiencing First Episode Schizophrenia. Miraculously, he came to that conclusion over the span of a few days based on only a handful of interviews with me during my stay. Typically, symptoms are observed for several months or years before an accurate diagnosis of schizophrenia can be made. That was certainly not the case in my experience with Dr. Raele. He discharged me from Delray Medical Center on the condition that I enroll in the NAVIGATE public health program at South County Mental Health Center, where I was treated for two years with various cocktails of antipsychotics, antidepressants, and sometimes benzodiazepines for schizophrenia. I have had a full recovery since, which ironically did not begin to happen until I began taking only one medication and lowering my dose. The way that my case was handled is extremely questionable in many ways, down to my very diagnosis. I do not recommend this doctor to anyone, particularly those experiencing an acute mental health crisis.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
