Staff effectiveness needs attention. I was scheduled for shoulder surgery 3 weeks ago. Orthopedic surgeon's office sent the request 3 weeks ago. I hate to use the old A word, but I assumed everything was fine a good. Went to the hospital for my pre-surgery tests and appointments...etc. Last week, the orthopedic surgeon's scheduler asks me for the phone number because they can't get a hold of anyone. Mailbox is full, so I called to make an appointment just to get through. The story gets worse, but bottom line, they called me today (Friday) that I'm not cleared for surgery Monday! Many of us made so many arrangements to accommodate this surgery and me being out of work. We're all dumfounded by this lack of urgency, empathy, and work ethic. I had to call several times to try and get the doctors' offices on the same page - ridiculous! Dr. Akella, took good care of me for the stent 6 months ago however. I'm looking elsewhere regardless.

When I lived in Florida dr akella was a great doctor and is wife Michelle was a great nurse. I have nothing bad to say about the whole staff. I’m now in Michigan and drs stink up here. I would move back to have him as my heart doctor again. Miss you dr akella. From Steven Reno

The best cardiologist in Manatee area for sure. Have a question he is there to answer. You call 📞 you get the call back within 10 minutes or less. Surgeon, you want to go to. Life or death situation he is the one to save you.

Fast friendly and an excellent doctor. Also efficient staff

I would recommend NO ONE USE THIS HEART DOCTOR!!!! He has no care for his patients, no bedside manner (if you ever even get to see him personally) and just doesn't care. Had a loop recorder put in my chest (suggested by his nurse, not even him) on June 14th. It is now July 30th and I still have an open wound in my chest. Infecred for almost 2 months, had to get antibiotics from my primary because the 50+ phone calls to dr akellla went unanswered since June. Gor to get in there today and he threw me out of his office because I CALMLY SAID I WAS FURIOUS BECAUSE I HAVE HAD AN OOEN WOUND IN MY CHEST SINCE JUNE 14TH AND HE NEVER ANSWERED ANY CALL!!!!! So my dr, whO I have LITERALLY put my heart in his hands threw me out because I was upset about having a gaping open wound in my chest since June 14th and he doesn't care. Worst cardiologist ever. If you even get to see him

The fact my husband was supposed to have surgery today and the hospital did not have him on the schedule and we can't get a answer from Dr. Akella's office...Tells me all I need to know!!!

Despite his office being short staffed, Michelle worked from Friday until the following Wednesday to get the necessary insurance approval for a heart cath they determined I needed. Late Friday afternoon the cath was done and a stent for a blockage causing my symptoms was inserted. My husband and I had planned to leave the next morning on a long planned anniversary cruise. Dr Akella and Michelle did everything they could to make this possible!

His office staff is horrible. He said I need a cardiac surgeon and offered to send a referral three weeks ago. I call his office almost every day because the referral was never sent. Most of the time they do not answer the phone and do not return phone calls. They keep saying they will send the referral to the surgeon but 3 weeks later, still no referral.

Dr Akella said I need to see a cardiac surgeon. I have waited 3 weeks for his office to send the referral to the surgeon. I have called almost daily and his office still has not sent the referral to the surgeon. They don't answer the phone, don't return calls, and don't send the referral to the surgeon. Absolutely the worst medical office ever.

Always rescheduling appointments. I hear the doctor talking badly about other patients outside the office. He’s very rude to his staff. No wonder the turnover rate is high. My appointment was rushed. Won’t be going back.
